I'm not sure what legal action would actually achieve for the club. The only tangible result would be to get the eight points we were eventually deducted restored, which would mean a 12th-place finish in the table. Restoring the placement money lost would be all but negated by the legal bill arising from said court action. It would be a symbolic gesture at most.

AbsoluteLy spot on: the PL were looking for a sacrificial lamb to persuade government it could clean house on its own. We were it.

The Government allowed Chelsea to get shut of Abramovic and clean their slate. We got a death sentence that only the players, fans and - yes - the much maligned manager reused to accept. And Maguire was part of that process practically urging the PL on to make an example of us.

I dream of a day when the likes of Chelsea, RS, Utd etc all F off to a Super League. It's a shame it never happened.
