Initial 10, then reduced to 6 + 2 Point Deductions

Self important know-nothing at the end of the day. He's had to throw everything he said about PSR into the fire because he can see that it's inconsistently applied...something anyone could have told him it would be.

He is what I said he was all along: just another chancer; part of the entertainment industry that lives a parasitic life off football.

He has nothing of interest or worth to offer about Everton.

He could though have the decency to apologise for witch-hunting Everton and doing the PL's work for them. I guarantee you that if he'd tried to do that with Liverpool he wouldn't be taking up his seat at Liverpool University ever again.
I was amazed that the presenter was so quick to make the point that the Premier League was not corrupt. Perhaps this was demanded ny Maguire as the price of appearing, because Maguire himself was adamant that they were not corrupt. Yet, corruption is "the abuse of a public office, a position in the economic sector or a political mandate in favour of a third party." It is also defined as "the abuse of entrusted power for private gain." I think it is pretty obvious that the "private gain" here for the Premier League would be by not having an independent regulator. For other Premier League clubs, the gain who be by punishing Everton to preserve either top-flight status or the status quo where only a selecr few can compete. Fans looked to the Premier League as the "entrusted power" and were...abused.

It's incredible that people want to split hairs and defend what was outright abuse and the systematic undermining of competitive integrity. And people wonder why organisations like CAF can simply overturn entire tournament outcomes on a whim. We're on a slippery slope.

The club need to take legal action, it’s blatant corruption. We accidentally broke rules and got docked points while they deliberately cheated to a bigger financial advantage and get a lesser punishment.
I'm not sure what legal action would actually achieve for the club. The only tangible result would be to get the eight points we were eventually deducted restored, which would mean a 12th-place finish in the table. Restoring the placement money lost would be all but negated by the legal bill arising from said court action. It would be a symbolic gesture at most.

I actually don't mind the non-response from the club to this, the injustice in it all is screamingly obvious which is why it's being pointed out by all neutral journalists and even neutral fans that Chelsea's offence was far worse than ours (or indeed Forest's) and clearly merits a greater not lesser punishment.

That message is more powerfully delivered by neutral observers and they are doing our talking for us. Nothing is going to change retrospectively and in the unlikely event this is going to result in any meaningful change in how the PL goes about things it will be because everyone puts the pressure on not just an aggrieved club.

We said this was corrupt at the time and got shouted down, now this verdict vindicates us and people can see it. Sometimes a quiet "we told you so" does the job.

AbsoluteLy spot on: the PL were looking for a sacrificial lamb to persuade government it could clean house on its own. We were it.

The Government allowed Chelsea to get shut of Abramovic and clean their slate. We got a death sentence that only the players, fans and - yes - the much maligned manager reused to accept. And Maguire was part of that process practically urging the PL on to make an example of us.

The feller's a grifter. Full stop.

I remember getting some pushback on here by the usual suspects when I said he was part of the entertainment business and not a serious commentator.

He's just there to flog podcasts and books and t-shirts to the gullible. THAT IS ALL.

Quite how he avoided censure from his apparent employers Liverpool University for trying to nobble a 140 odd year city institution I dont know.

I DO know this though: if he'd tried that on with those who support Murder Inc he'd have to have left that job. 100% he would have.

Personally i don’t believe a Super League was ever truly in the offering and it was a ruse for something else. Even something as minuscule as it’s logo looked like something from Windows 98 Paint.

(Cleans the filth off conspiracy cap)

We close the gap to two points to Chelsea if we beat them.

I know they're free of European games now and they'll think they can go on a run to secure a CL place, but there's something ropey about them at the minute. IMO they're a coming force and will be challenging for the title in the next couple of seasons, but right now they are there to be taken by us - both on Saturday and in terms of finishing above them.

This season is on the cusp of being a very very good one. The question is do the manager and players want it as desperately as the fans?

They will want to do well but be as desperate as the fans? . I doubt that. They all still get paid regardless.

I'm shocked Evangelos hasn't sued yet.
