Initial 10, then reduced to 6 + 2 Point Deductions

I know.

I was merely expressing the difference in the wording of the 2 cases. Any reference to “sporting advantage” in the Chelsea case would have meant it had to be a points deduction. They tried to muddy the waters by referencing the 3rd party payments as still being within PSR parameters so no need for a points deduction.

The whole thing stinks as their self reporting mitigation led to a fine,a reduced fine and a suspended transfer ban when normal mitigating factors can only be applied once but for them it was applied 3 times.

The whole process will always be "unfair" and "disproportionate" due to the fact there are no defined rules for punishment. There's no "You do X you'll get Y" Theres a framework to be decided by multiple people.

Its why they can easily change the whole economic setup of the league. PSR fell apart the minute they had to punish teams. Within a year they changed the whole structure.

It does stink. BUT...

It isn't the Media's fault. They report. The media rely upon sports coverage and are unlikely to risk contracts. They aren't culpable in any way. But we are.

On occasions when a journalist does do an opinion piece, they're quickly criticised by 'us' as biased and unfit.

Fault lies with...
the Premier League
(biased and contrary)

the weak clubs making up the Premier League
(not willing to rock the boat and potentially kill the bird that lays the golden eggs)

the impotent supporters of all non Big 6 Premier League teams.
(willing to accept such adjudications)

You need to accepted that we, the supporters of lesser teams, are helpless. Individually, we can do nothing.
Supporters of the so-called Big 6 teams are unlikely to criticise such pathetic penalties.

Be prepared...be very prepared... for a disappointing 'Man City 115' outcome.

So... Dont criticise others. Dont pass the buck. Don't procrastinate. What are you going to do?

Me? I'm going to sit here and rant... and rant... in vane hope that somebody, somewhere is going to do something.
I’m going to pour myself another drink and then hand deliver a letter to Richard Masters home in Bucks.

I might even break one of his garden gnomes in a fit of pique…

The critical difference is that our judgement referred to a “sporting advantage” which implied others were disadvantaged. This is why the IC concluded that only a points deduction was the appropriate penalty.

There is no reference to sporting advantage in the Chelsea case so no cause for appeal.

Also, it is a settlement agreement overseen by the PL with no recourse for appeal whereas ours was a tribunal with appeal written in to the rules.

Its quite frankly the most ridiculous charge. Won the title with eden hazard and willian but no sporting adavantage lol
And what they've done is laid the groundwork for the City charges.
But what you gona do. Sue them for compensation.
All its done is confirm what everyone knew. They're bent.

Yeah, it's complete and utter bollocks. What they're effectively saying is that wages and transfer fees fell within PSR boundaries. Totally ignoring the fact that illegal payments were made in order to keep those figures within PSR boundaries.

Secret payments ongoing.

"It is a fine coincidence that Chelsea’s first Premier League game since being fined for breaching financial rules during Roman Abramovich’s ownership should be at Everton, the club the Premier League made an example of when reinforcing its authority over disobedient members (except the wealthiest ones who tried to join a European Super League). Cheat for seven years by making illicit payments totalling £47.5m for players who help you win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League and two FA Cups, and not only do you get to keep those trophies but you escape with a fine of £10.75m and a nine-month academy transfer ban. If you’re Chelsea.

"Breach financial rules by £19.5m over a three-year period while taking out loans to build a new stadium and losing sponsorship deals owing to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and you receive a 10-point deduction reduced to six on appeal. If you’re Everton.

"The Premier League wanted a 12-point punishment, don’t forget, which would have pushed Everton closer to a relegation that could have triggered administration. Evertonians were condescendingly dismissed as conspiracists when accusing the Premier League of operating a two-tier disciplinary system in 2023. This week they received confirmation they were correct."
