I'm so happy being an Evertonian right now!!!

we have to look at the main positive that our squad depth is now much stronger in almost all areas apart from midfield .
we finished 6th , if we had more depth when players got injured ,played crap , or couldnt hit a barn door from 2 yards , we would have finished higher.
alcaraz , although maybe not a starter that improves our best 11 , could potentially be a better sub than heitinga or atleast more competition for places if heitinga stays.
robles looked good for wigan , is young and again may not improve our best 11 yet , but adds competition for howard.
kone on paper is better than we have so improves our best 11 and again enhances competition for places.

if we keep the squad as it is now then its certainly a step forward from last season .
the only 'gap' is a replacement for neville/cm. then we will be better than we where last season in every area.
i would like to see another winger added to last years squad too so fingers crossed that may happen.
so 2 players more , keep who we have and higher than 6th is on like donkey kong in theory.

Kone and Robles are excellent signings.

I will say this which is something that hasnt been commented on, we now have some serious squad depth something that is needed if you want to have a bash at the CL places.

Just go with it and get yourself a sombrero.

Delusional. We've lost two outfield players and gained two outfield players.

People are getting way ahead of themselves, and I feel sorry for Martinez if it doesn't all go to plan because he'll end up feeling an almighty backlash.

The Wigan trio aren't going to catapult us to the Champions League, of that I'm certain. Just look at our immediate rivals for that 4th spot, they're improving their already superior squads with moves for quality players, we've picked up a couple of decent pros from a team that was relegated.

I kind of agree. Robles is a forward-thinking replacement for Mucha and Alcaraz will quite-likely be a more dependable third-choice than Heitinga. We'll probably break even on those deals and be a touch improved.

Kone was only a league goal behind Rooney and Aguero in the goal-scoring charts last season and is a nifty, little player. It can be fine margins getting into the Champions' League and adding someone a bit different, who is capable of notching double figures could give us more options and push us on.

Usually at the end of every season we have our fans talking about which players we could get from relegated clubs who would be of benefit to our squad and then moaning when we fail to raid these clubs for bargains. We have taken three very useful players from Wigan for what amounts to a very small outlay in todays terms and some are still moaning. I am happy with our dealings so far and I still think we will do more, If that involves taking another Wigan player I won't complain as long as its McCarthy

I love how a few signings have boosted morale not only at the club but even us Evertonians are feeling a buzz and are itching for the season to come. The future looks bright for a blue! COYB!

New signings have picked up my excitement
Made the difference between me paying for just the America friendlies and buying the full package-- man i can't wait to watch them blues on sunday!

OK

Ill break it down, there are two distinct Evertonians at the moment

1. Is an evertonian so stinking sick of seeing Davy Moyes negative tactics, and bottling it for years in major cup ties in the hope of finishing higher up the league, and thus satisfying the other Evertonian

2. This other evertonian is a mix of myself, happy to finish as hight up the league hopeful one day we will be bought out, not PARTICULARLY arsed about trophies as they are not the end all and be all of success, they are a marker of, not a definer.

Ten years ago we struggled to finish in a league, we ended up being top 7 contenders for a while, with little to not real investment whilst others around us spunked millions trying to achieve what Everton did.

That for me is a miracle in itself, but does NOT excuse the previous management from error - I'm glad he is gone, and GLAD to have a replacement.

The connection between relegation and a cup winning season is simple to explain, but you seem intent on avoiding the obviois paradigm which hit wigan last year, for the years leading up to the ineveitable relegation Wigan where happy to be in the league, a small town club in a huge league - there are quotes from DW saying this, not my words.

Now.. the trophy 'success' in terms of their value, supporter base and holding was huge, to validate their existence if you want, but to be relegated? Nah, it wasn't no big thing. Why? cos it was inevitable.

You see? This is the link between a trophy win - and relegation, no i did not say they where linked, you did - the reason i am explaining this and gone to this much detail is because you seem to avoid the obvious parallel with winning a trophy ( finishing 7th ) and being relegated ( us ten years ago )

Anything else?

I think you may be in a select club of 1 with that comment. I can understand your rationale behind the rest of your post - but that comment, not having it.

loving the positvity lad nice one would pos rep if my work comp would let me! COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a lot to be excited for. New football, new tactics, no routine subs, no routine play, new players to watch, young blood coming through, what isn't there to like? It's a brand new era, a brand new start, onwards Evertonians.

AN IT'S A GRAND OLD TEAM TO SUPPORT............

You're dead right, if Moyes had stayed we'd have probably finished between 5th-7th again, all well and good but we'd nearly know in advance how the season was going to progress, what games we'd win, what games we definitely wouldn't, who was going to play week in week out, knowing exactly the time and player changes for substitutions, our one dimensional style of play.................at least with martinez we dont know what to expect which makes it exciting, it could all go seriously tits up but [Poor language removed] it, I'd much rather take that chance than trudge along and be bored under DM again

Until that's happened, the board have spent money and that is good. Don't let your hatred cloud what so far has been a big spending summer for Everton. If we sell Baines to finance it then is the time to slate the board over this summe, whilst we are spending.. They are doing alright this season.

Please, show me where I have sucked Bill's end in my post?

I was being slightly sarcastic, let's not get too serious.

And at the same time, where do you get the idea that I am showing "hatred" in my post

My point is still, I will wait until the end of the window before making any decisions on whether Bill is "splashing the cash" as you put it.

Moyes's style of football made going to the game a chore, the majority of the games you knew were going to be boring long ball rubbish. we deperatly needed a change.

3 signings in a week did DM ever do this? onwards & upwards with youngsters to show their worth the old guard only picked on merit for a change - yes I feel good about Roberto!

Think that's a great post - life is for living not just existing.
