At the same time, what you're describing is not a 60 million player. Grealish had the same fullback and was much more productive.Tough though when he was almost our only attacking threat for 2nd half of season, and coming off AFCON also. At least when Grealish was playing, we could mix it up a touch, once he was injured, Ndiaye was expected to perform miracles on his own, as McNeill wasn’t gonna offer anything. Disappointing end to his season, no doubt about it, but Moyes had no plan B, if Ndiaye was off it. He always had a full back who was petrified to cross the halfway line and offer any overlap to support. Moyes also has him playing with the handbrake on, given the level of defensive duty he chips in with too. He’s the only player in our entire squad who can provide genuine off your seat entertainment, and we need to build around him, not flog him.
I'm not sure where this spend, spend, spend thing has come from. I've certainly not said anything about it. I generally think we should move to a model of buying less well known players for lower fees and try to develop them in house but that would obviously require excellent scouting and coaching and I'm not sure we currently have either. I suspect that you will retort that that approach wouldn't deliver instant results and that there would be clamour to change tack, which of course there would be, but I'd personally be ok with us not being great for a while if it allowed for the possibility of us being better in the future. The alternative, it seems to me anyway, is to carry on with the usual high fee, high wage, premier league proven approach which has us languishing in the bottom half of the table. At the moment we don't have the resources for instant success or the talent (or patience) to build for the future more systematically, it's the worst of all worlds.Right, but none of the other players would generate fees really, so again, how can we spend spend spend and never recoup?
Everyone has a price - it was a point I made a fair bit last summer with Branthwaite. I thought we'd sell him as a homegrown/PSR bonus to allow a bigger rebuild.
The notion we need to sell this summer though is silly - last summer was the first in 5+ years we had an actual net spend.
The club can spend this summer again, without needing to sell.
Everyone has a price
Sure, everyone has their price. But then what?Well, everyone has a price and I feel they should move on from Moyes. What now?
Going to be even tougher watching Moyes' brand of anti-football another talented player down. Don't want any players who can be a joy to watch and get fans off their seats. If its true t's a shame to see a genuinely talented player who's a real pleasure to watch wanting to leave, not buying the miserable arse narrative that he's 'not that good' he's had a poor last couple months but who hasn't? I think we would struggle to get 50m+ for him.
Sure, everyone has their price. But then what?
Let's say we get £60m for him. What are we spending it on? A ready made replacement with premier league experience? How much change from £60m would we get from that? Or less well known players or younger players from other leagues? Would Moyes play them? This season suggests not.
I guess what I'm saying is that if we sell Ndiaye for a big chunk but then replace him with, for example, Bowen for basically the same money, or worse that we end up seeing McNeil end up playing 30 games out wide, then was the price worth it?
On the other hand, if the player wants to go and is pushing for a move, and let's be frank who would blame him, then we're left with no option but to sell him. I just think it's a shame.
Well yes, we would then have to do the thing we’re historically bad at and actually make a smart signing. The idea that it can’t be done though I don’t agree with. To me selling him for 60m or so (or pick whatever price) is probably the right decision and should be made independently of what the replacement is.Sure, everyone has their price. But then what?

Not this rubbish from you again.Rumours going around he has asked to leave Everton.
Mate 100m.Yeah I wouldn't sell him either.
But £100m and I do - and that's what I mean by everyone has a price.
We dont need to sell him, hopefully we keep him unless theres a daft offer.
