I liked it better when we had no money

I think it is more about what you do with the money. It is clear that Walsh and the team of scouts at the club are simply not up to the job of recruiting. Just look at the RS and the way they got Coutinho from Inter Milan because he had fallen into the reserve team, Spurs have just bought Moura from PSG because he has fallen out of favour at PSG, yet we see fit to spend £40m on a player from Swansea that we didn't really need and more recently £27m on a much needed striker that the manager doesn't seem to rate. Moyes did well on a small budget when he was here because prior to starting out in management he spent a lot of time travelling round europe watching matches and making good contacts within the game, it's clear we just don't have that setup anymore sadly.

Imagine a player like Cahill in the Everton squad now - a proper player and grafter and full of spirit. We don't have anyone like that now.

Moyes had his tactical limitations, but most of his signings were excellent, and I think it helped him being financially restrained.

Having said that, the Premier League is totally different now. There is just so much money in the game that we would be struggling even more if we didn't have this cash injection.

We had to spend wisely.

Now we spend £45million for a limited player who takes really good freekicks.

We're also relying a lot more on the youth team the more we spend, when under Moyes it was very rare.

Problem is when you have money you attract players motivated by it. We have some shocking mercenaries now. In the past we had a spirit despite our shortcomings and inferiority complex, it's gone out of the window now. The only ones who care are probably the youngsters, Rooney, Niasse and Seamus. The Moyes team cared about the club.
