A little side thought...

If any of the players didn't quite understand or 'get' Everton, they will now. Today will have shown every one of them what our club means....

I hope Klopp was paying close attention as well, he would have learnt plenty about what really goes on locally and that the whole footballing world does not revolve about whatever Liverpool FC happen to be up to that day.

I love this photo. Two Everton icons and the look on Howard's face is a picture.

Every time I see any clips from today I'm in bits.

I'll never listen to that Elton John song again the same way.

I'm sitting with my daughter Amy who is nearly seven telling her stories about Howard feeling really proud because like me at that age and to this day she's obsessed with all things Everton.

Like all of us she's born and not manufactured.

I remember I was her age when we won the league in 87 and jumping up and down in the living room with my dad when the final whistle went at Norwich. Some of my favourite childhood memories are listening to my dad tell me stories of the 1985 team and Howard as a player in the 69/70 season with Ball and Harvey.

I'm hoping that today as somebody else has posted our current playing squad will realise what our Everton family is all about and that they can go on and win something for our greatest ever manager to create new memories and stories to share.

RIP Boss. Thank you for everything.

Howard seems to have had chronic hip pain. Colin Harvey has also suffered from hip problems. Dalgleish laid up in hospital today recovering from a back operation. An aspect of football that gets little media attention, player's bodies pay the price years later.

Well said Tommye.. you would hope that the events of today will in some way inspire them to do their utmost to win a trophy as a fitting tribute to a great Evertonian...gutted at not being there today but reading this thread and looking and listening to the media reports makes me proud to be a supporter of this great club...we are indeed a family..Thanks for some wonderful memories Howard RIP

Joe Royle struggles too.
Everton do look after past players though.
