I'm normally not one for going to funerals where I have no direct link ( I do regret not going to Dave Hickson's ) but I'm going to Howard's to pay my utmost respects .

Was in the players tunnel as the lads came off the Wembley Pitch,
Derek Mountfield was crying his heart out...
Hugged him and said lad you and the team have done us proud, little did i realise at the time the mancs had denied us the Domestic Double.
Such was the joy of doing the League, the Cup Winners Cup and literally being on a high from the Tuesday we travelled to Rotterdam via Ostende to getting to Wembley and unfortunately being beaten.
Still those days will be with me to be happily remembered.....

There were 4 of us that did the Rotterdam trip over the 6 days, of course met up with mates here and there.
Around Victoria Station way was always a pub we would meet at ....
As for the players tunnel we just asked a couple of plods any chance of us getting out of the ground via the players tunnel they said ok so there we were in the tunnel when the lads came off the track....
I have got pictures somewhere will have to look them up and post them...
I have said many a time if we had beaten the mancs that day ...we would still be in London now .....!!

I do regret not going to Dave Hickson's. He was my Dad's hero . I'd met him on lots of occasions and he was an absolute gentleman always, I loved him for it. I didn't go as I thought not for me , grief merchants and that. but afterwards I realised I should have as he was my hero as well.
