How would you feel playing Liverpool in a Pre-season friendly?

Yes I was going to put that down myself, bit of a bore draw that one. I think it was a 4 team tournament and we played a match Anfield the day before(?) poss against a German team? There may have even been two matches back to back? Most of that doesn't sound right as a type it but I went to both anyhow.
Parkinson went right through John Barnes, they were fuming

Moenchengladbach. And I want to say Porto but may be wrong on that one.

I got Steffen Effenburg's autograph that day after bumping into him in one of the shops on Goodison Road.

Anyone remember the 0-0 at Goodison? Must have been around the late 90s.

It was a tournament and the ground seemed pretty full. Very young at the time so can't remember much more than that.
I watched us lose to moechengladbach on pens at the pit on the Saturday they also lost to Porto i think setting up a Merseyside bore draw at Goodison the next day....

Derbies are for our stadium, their stadium and Wembley for when we beat them in cup finals. Nothing else is acceptable. Having a game in America (or elsewhere) where the majority of fans are neutral would be bizarre.
I didn't see the game last night. But how many fans would realistically travel over to watch a 'friendly' outside Merseyside/London?

Being a Celtic fan also. I would be horrified if a Glasgow derby took place outside Glasgow. The poor locals and police wouldn't know what hit them! But then again that fixture is on a different level when it comes to fan behaviour.

I'd play them as often as possible, the morevthe better to. How our players how average they are and how all the fear is in their own heads. The problem with twice a year is the build up is so big our players have lost before they start. When we had a triple header v them in 08/09 we didn't lose a game to a top Liverpool side.

How does it make you feel playing Rangers at least 4 times a season? Surely it loses it's appeal?

Absolutely hate the make up of the league. You can play teams up to 7 times in a season! SEVEN! In fact with the new league cup set up ots possible for 8 EIGHT fixtures against the same opponent.

But Scottish football is so adverse to ANY change its frustrating. It appears that the status quo is more favourable than being dragged into the 21st century. Losing in Europe to teams from Luxemburg, Lithuania etc is the norm now.

It certainly doesn't add to the quality of the football. But being a small country you have to make up a minimum amount of games. Its the same in other leagues like Ireland (N &S) Switzerland etc. Its been like that up here since the mid 1970s.

But the money men what the circus of 4 Glasgow derbies as well as Edinburgh derbies and Aberdeen's games against those four opponents.

Yes, it was a 3rd and 4th place play off but it was decided at the final whistle not to have a penalty shootout. Bayern Monchengladbach beat us on pens at Anfield the day before and iirc Porto beat the RS

I'd rather not to be honest. Dislike the derby games enormously as for most of my lifetime we've rolled over meekly and given that horrible lot their only reason to gloat all season. No thanks.
