Well, I believe we wouldn't have as harsh responses to his magic tricks. I hope the general populous would be more 'meh' about them as we are a little bit more enlightened and don't actually believe that water literally turned into wine.

If he comes back he will do a few magic tricks and then go the way of David Blaine, a side show that nobody really cares about anymore but we would not nail him to a cross for it. Maybe just a few bad reviews in the Guardian.

What would Jesus have to do today to be recognised as the second coming? Even if you believe in him from the bible or church; it'd have to be some incredible event.

Perform miracles of some sort.

It's also possible that these stories are indeed meant to be taken literally, by the gullible. Which they do.
