'How Pierluigi Collina blew it for David Moyes and Everton in 2005'

Quite possibly the worst refereeing decision for Everton in my time of supporting Everton (yeah, worse than Clattenberg in the derby)

Nowhere near as bad as the Clive Thomas semi final decision in the semi final v the SH*** at Maine Road in what was the late winner ruled out in a 2-2 draw we were under dogs got it back to 2-2 and Bryan Hamilton scored a perfectly good winning goal - the Liverpool players never appealed - I cried that day as they beat us easily in the replay robbed by a controversial prat of a Welsh referee who stated it was offside = NO then claimed he gave it for a hand ball = never - What a bad ref he really was!

They where a very, very good side. They worked Arsenal over too and they were lucky against them.

I'm not sure we'd have got anything out of that even if it had counted. The best team I've seen at GP them.

I'll be eternally conflicted in regards to Collina

Yeah, he really did us over in that game

But, he also reffed England Vs Argentina in 2002 and did a great job keeping the Argies in check

I think it's just unlucky for us that he had a rare poor game while reffing one of our matches

How on earth would that have anyone 'conflicted'? It was only England FFS!

I thought you supported Ireland Mick?

Not this old chestnut again.

From my memory we were utter ****e for the majority of that 2nd leg, rarely threatening. Who's to say we'd have won in extra time? It was only because we were going out that Moyes decided to throw off his defensive shackles and give it a go, hence the late pressure we piled on them.

Let. It. Go.

Agree with that.

Villarreal were much the better side, like. We were unlucky to be drawn against one of the best sides in europe.

But it still hurt to be robbed of a goal, even if we'd still have lost.

I remember fuming at the draw. So many turd teams and we got the actual worst draw we possibly could have got!

I think I'd support Nazi Germany against the Argies mate

I jest of course

I root for all the Home Nationes really, but especially England and Ireland. If they ever play each other, I always wish for a draw (So I was happy with the Wembley result earlier in the year)

How did you end up supporting that Scottish side then mate?

On topic, didn't Collina get binned after something dodgy happened in a Milan game?

On Topic, I think it was the opposite. He wasn't crooked enough

Off Topic, if you're talking about Hibs, then yeah I pretty much chose to support them due to my Irish heritage. That and I have a raging love for the city of Edinburgh. I'll even wish the Jambo's well so long as they aren't playing Hibs

Typical for this to surface now that DM is in the champions league with UNT not much fuss by the press when we were dumped out of it when Collina was called back from retirement to ref that game - UEFA had to stop us qualifying over the TV rights with 5 English teams being permitted to enter oh done over by the red half of the city yet again!
