I simply can't pass a defeat off as NEA. It always hurts, and a cup defeat always hurts a little bit deeper as it rules out another possible trophy opportunity.

I think after 30 years of seeing the club never ever fully try when it comes to this competition makes you forget it even exists.
We simply have never really viewed it as a priority, we had a go last season but from a 3-1 lead we end up losing 4-3 one half of football later.

I am not dismissing it fully as I am totally aware of our requirement to win something asap, but I just do not think this was considered a priority.
We are trying to attract the very best level of players to our club. You do that by winning leagues and qualifying for the CL these days, not by winning this 3 handled mess.

Fans would sooner a top half finish and a trophy. Understandable.
But if we want to really achieve something in the coming years we need top 4, Lukaku staying, new state of the art waterfront arena.
Bigger fish to fry so perhaps a bit more short term pain outside of the league, for long term gain.

The way most fans were wetting their kex in excitement at getting to the semi final last year, I am suspecting there are one or two putting brave faces on this today.

At the end of the day, we have a chance of winning 2 trophies, the FA and this cup.

To say we are not arsed as we won't win it, is just like saying we may as well not be in the premier league then, as we have zero chance of winning that either and certainly less chance as we do of winning this.

My 2 young sons were upset as they like to see the blues win every game. I was just frustrated as i have been in this position many many times before of getting knocked out by a lower league club at Goodison.
