I also fail to see how playing 300 times and having your own 'When Hibbert scores we riot' is not making an impact on your club.

Is he a world beater ? No.
Is he going to help us win the league ? No.
Has he done his best for 10 years wearing the shirt that we all love ? You're damn right he has.

This should be a chance to celebrate and look back on his time at the club, and to watch a good game of football in the process. He's a good guy and i wouldn't begrudge anybody who has played for Everton for a decade the same experience.

I also don't get the last line of your post at all, nobody has said anything of the sort and you're twisting people's reactions and what they think to fit your own personal opinion, which is never a good thing !

But yes, I won't argue that he's done his best for us for 10 years. I haven't. I like Hibbert, as I've said, but it just doesn't sit right with me -- celebrating someone for 10 years of service, but little else at all.

And I'm not twisting anything. In fact I feel like you keep twisting my intent a bit here. I'm merely saying how PERSONALLY I can't really celebrate (not ironically) Tony Hibbert's career to such an extent.

You like to argue, Fox doesn't. I also don't see where Fox made a big deal out of it, you on the other hand did. Drop the victim thing, it doesn't work. I've disagreed with Fox on plenty of things and now you're just trying to change the subject because you know you've been done !

For example if you'd come in and said 'I won't be going, Hibbert is crap' then it would have been a different kettle of fish. It was when you started questioning the validity of the testimonial as a thing that people disagreed with you.

I get yours though. I didn't actually know initially that a testimonial could be for current players, who'd had 10 years of service. You pointed that out. But you kept pointing it out, as if to say I couldn't understand why he was getting a testimonial, or as if his wasn't valid.

So again I think you've missed my point. It's really just a personal thing... as testimonials are so rare -- especially Everton ones -- I just feel like they should be for larger characters than Hibbert.

I understand you're point, but the reality is that a club in our position isn't going to have players at the club for ten straight years who are also solid characters. I think that's an issue with club or the league as a whole, and should not stop us from celebrating Hibbert !
