Hibbert testimonial against AEK Athens, 8 August Goodison Park

Hibbert deserves one. Ten years of service is the majority of his footballing career. Fully deserves it.

10 years at a Prem club - the lack of testimonials at other clubs tell you just how rare that is - more so for uncapped players like Tony or Leon. The only other players I can think of with long service at their only club are Carragher (he's had one), Gerrard & Terry.

Suprised by RFUS's comments here.

If any current Everton player deserves one it's him. It'll be a fun day too.

As am i.

The idea that testimonials should only be for 'great' players really gets on my tits as well, Hibbert as put as much effort in as anybody. Since when does natural god given ability deserve more support and recognition from fans than ten years of dedication to one club ? Makes us sound like bad plastics that does.

Anyone who thinks Hibbo doesn't deserve a testimonial, wake up! He has been an amazing servant to the club and an outstanding professional and role model, he is the epitome of an Evertonian. So what if he's quite average, shouldn't stop him from getting what he deserves.

giggs n scholes n g neville all did the 10+ stint and have had testimonials too.

Tony is a good servant and has put his whole life into our club.

I will get a ticket for this.

In the neg rep you just gave me, you called him a "Goodison great".

Goodison greats are Dean, Ball, Harvey, Southall. Embarrassing that mate.

But that's not true, so you're basing your opinion on something that has never been the case.

Testimonials are for ten years of service or players who are particularly well renowned and are retiring. End of !

It's not odd at all...

Oh ffs lad yes I get it, it's for 10 years service.

The semantics of the word "testimonial" are not what I'm talking about though. It's more that I think this will be the first Everton player testimonial I've seen, and he just isn't even in the top 10 players I'll remember fondly from the period in Everton's history I can remember.

Bad Kopite you tbh lad, the GoT collective are telling you to pipe down !

Jesus Christ.

Hibbert is "loyal" because no other feckers would ever want him.

Rooney might have been "loyal" too if he was an average player.

But why does that matter ? A lot of people will have a party at work for somebody who has been there for ten years, a testmonial match is the equivalent of that. I don't understand why you're so annoyed at the idea of us celebrating it, his footballing ability is irrelevant.

If you work in an office doing a thoroughly average job for ten years you'll still most likely get a night out and a 'cheers' to you, it's just a nice way to commemorate something, stop making a big deal out of it !
