I think it would be a good gesture for the musicians and entertainers of this country - some of them knighted - to go along and keep the crowd of mourners happy while they queue at this time. They could collect for charity while they do it and boost their popularity ratings into the bargain. Just a thought.

Ideas. It's what I do.
Nice thought but surely we don’t want anyone happy at this time ?‍♂️

I'm not usually bothered about the royals but I do feel bad for Harry, sick of life in a fishbowl and worried for his family, tries to take a back seat and gets pilloried.
Twitter is throwing lots of royal content my way so I though I'd read the comments under this tweet and the hatred for Markle is insane.
The whole thing is messed up.

Not sure you’ve thought this thru gt.
Perhaps not as you say although TV pictures showed many people in less than sombre mood today.

I heard Sharon Osbourne intends to join the throng and wait in line. I assume she'll be on her own.

I don't fancy waking up in my sleeping bag tomorrow to find the Prince of Darkness leering down at me.

As sad as it is, we do put on quite a spectacular event. The soldiers look immaculate and what an honour it must be for them to be part of this.

Other countries, in particular America just don’t have this. That is why they are probably so fascinated with it all.

They are fascinated by it in the way a child would be at a zoo though. It's like some weird farce.

It is really weird, and from afar we would all laugh. It's kind of bizarre when it's our country though, in 2022.

What fascinates me is that they will organise all of this immaculately every minutia of protocol, decorum and pageantry will be perfect to the millimeter. Yet the country can't organise it so kids aren't going to bed hungry or having hard working parents relying on charity to feed their families or can't ensure that another 97 year old woman won't end up freezing to death alone and unfound for weeks like happens every year.

Priorities...
Oh they can.

They just don't give a toss.

Don't they have an elected but largely ceremonial head of state in Ireland?

Mostly, but the president has to ascent to every piece of legislation before it can be enacted, they have the power to call any potential legislative bill in and refer or refer a legislative bill to the Supreme Court to make sure its constitutional, rarely happens though, but does happen.

I think they are laughing in astonishment at the spectacle yes. Probably affectionately. Its harmless really, but very strange.
It is deffo nuts like. I'm not sure that anyone will be laughing at us though, probably more fascinated and a bit confused. The BBC breaking news about the Royal Parks not needing anymore marmalade sandwiches was probably just nodded at with it being a normal British thing. One of the more surreal news moments I have ever seen.

Yes completely agree on that sandwich thing. Didnt believe that when my partner told me about it earlier.

I think people will be perplexed by it, and laugh at it, but in a kind of affectionate way, like "those brits are nuts arent they".
