Current Affairs Her majesty the Queen

The Queen is part of that past. The Good Friday Agreement was 1998. There are a whole host of African countries whose independence didn't happen until she was on the throne. Independent India only predates her by a few years and obviously happened while she was a part of the line of succession.

I'm just saying there are a lot of people around the world who will not be able to separate her from that which the monarchy represents and I don't really think they're wrong.
This is not a dig at you or our other cousins across the pond but as someone who is living on another peoples land you may feel an active part of the history of colonisation which may taint your opinion of the matter. I am not sure that Africans who became independant under her rule will not see her as the monarch of freedom as opposed to the rule of occupation of her ancestors. That said when colonialism is thrown up on the continent it tends to be pointed at white Europeans, the whites (all of us) as opposed to only singling out royals

It's going to exceed the circus that was Diana dying this (ironic really, considering the Queen herself probably thought the Diana stuff was OTT)

I've nothing against the Queen and send my condolences to her family, but this whole ten days of mourning stuff is ridiculous in my opinion

Obviously make the funeral itself a big deal and a national holiday, fine, let people have a proper chance to say goodbye to the old girl, but aside from that we need to just carry on as normal

Cancelling entertainment's like sport and wall to wall news about it all is going way too far. It's excessive
That's a terrible take. Why should peoples' grief and sorrow make way for your lust for greedy corporate sponsored sports?

I acknowledge that she may not have a been a particularly popular figure for some people (for whatever reason) but some of the crassness that's permeated social media over the last 12 hours has been awful really. Her death isn't something to be celebrated.

You can disagree with the monarchy all you like, but what exactly was the problem with her? ?‍♂️ she pretty much led us into this modern Britain and did the same for the commonwealth...

Why can't we have both?

How is football being played going to curtail their grief and sorrow?

Just shut the TV off and don't go the match

They can grieve, we can have our football

Will grieving be impossible for them if they know others aren't?

Why should their desire to grieve be more important than those who just want to live life as normal?

Erm... How to explain this without sounding rude.

WE ALL HAVE TO SUFFER
