Heitinga as CB/CDM

Is that sort of the Luiz role? Don't think he's athletic enough.

I think that's why Martinez was looking at Marrone from juve to play that role, I still we will get him on loan probably in the last few days of the transfer window

Seems like a good bet for the Fulham game, give him some game time in place of the suspended McCarthy.
I reckon it'll be a straight swap for Osman or, possibly, Ross drops deeper and Mirallas plays off Lukaku (with Deulofeu on the wing).

The latter sounds unstoppable to me but our Leon has his merits as a center mid too.

I think it will be Osman in for him mate or Barkley drops deep and we have a few options who can play behind the front man, ideally Mirallas as I think our Barca boy will definitely be playing as this game is set up for him to tear Fulham a new one.

Heitinga for me, he'll slot in there and protect the back 4, and he's a genuine hard man so won't take any sh*t from Parker and Sidwell. If we don't keep Barry after the loan (which would be madness), then I think Heitinga is more than capable of filling that spot.

Can't be serious.

Last year I thought he played well on days he knew he was starting. If he's going to play then Bob would be wise that he's going to be in early in the week. He'd start on a bunch of prem teams, its just that Jags and Distin are better right now. As Oviedo has proven, its nice to have depth at a position.

I wouldn't move Barkley back as we lose what he offers in his current position if we do, Osman is to lightweight for that position, albeit he has played it a fair bit, but largely unsuccessfully.

It just seems to be the most logical step so that we aren't disrupting the rest of the starting XI by shuffling them about. He's on big wages and he's just sitting on his arse, we need someone that isn't afraid to stick his foot in and I thought with McCarthy out he'd be a good temporary solution. Not sure Bob fancies him much but I think he can do a job.

I don't get why Heitinga wouldn't put some graft in to get back in the team. If the problem was Moyes, or his system, then he should have grabbed the opportunity presented by a change in manager with both hands.

That he hasn't tells me he's done.

I think given the upcoming World Cup next year he could have a point to prove, pretty sure he'll want to earn a place in the dutch squad for that tournament. He's hardly set the world alight but even if he uses it to show us what he can do before he is moved on then fine, the lad just needs a chance and this could be the ideal opportunity.
