I know some people are against this and I don't disagree but central midfielders can play out wide (as Rohl has shown) and kind of solidify the shape and make you hard to break down. It is technically a safer bet than a winger which makes sense from that angle particularly if you are going after an attacking RB and looking for a partner rather than a straight up winger.

Having said that, that is everything that is wrong with Moyes and why he really needed to be yeeted to the old folks home after the season. In no way, shape or form do we need 30 central midfielders. Here we go all over again. See you next season lads. And I mean next next season not this one.
