Transfer Rumour Hayden Hackney

Clearly what the London journos want.

Nothing on Sky about our speculated interest over the last week but a full on bright yellow banner now the “approach” was rejected.

Basically sky looking to prompt a bidding war and drive the betting market
That’s all ‘Boro want. Make it known they are receiving offers and negotiating in the hope they can tempt just one club to lob a speculative bid in, makes us panic and just offer them what they want. Fair enough.

No doubt our opening gambit was low, and also offensive. That is our way. But I’ve just seen ‘Boro fans claiming we will be looking at £30-£40m, or they will just let him leave for free next year.

Baffling that people so obviously into their club and football in general to warrant so much time on social media talking about it, but don’t understand any of it in reality.

We will pay around 20 odd with appearances etc you'd think

Heard the same for saints fans last season with dibling.

They were talking about him not going for less then £70m.

Simple fact of the matter is once the player has decided he wants out and what club he wants to go to and youve only got a year left on his contract, you're over a barrel.

Well, this is it. It's great to haggle them down when you eventually get your man, but leaving the door open for others is a big risk for us as we're not exactly the most ravishing girl at the dance...
But, it sounds like he prefers us over other clubs, so we can go lower and hope to negotiate. If other clubs go wild - we have a decision to make about whether we match their offer, but we'll have some wiggle room.

Saints with dibling all over again.

Kick up a big fuss, leak everything to the press in hopes of drumming up more intrest in the player and get a bidding war going on.

Lads got a year left and wants out. Hes leaving this summer.

For everton to be in for him like this hes obviously decided he wants to come to us. So now we just have to sit back and wait till Middlesbrough cave.

Hes going to be a squad player here anyway so theres no rush on our end for him to come in.

Just hope penny pinching is reflective of us wanting to be ‘tough’ in the market and not due to a small budget with no wiggle room.

Seen some articles suggest he’s a ‘priority’ signing, makes you wonder why we’ve gone so low as a first offer, doesn’t sound like it’s even close?

Like most have said, regardless of positional needs, a guy of his quality for what is reportedly a low fee is something we want to happen…but do often make hard work of these ‘slam dunk’ deals.

Sky don’t make their money by people betting on Hayden Hackney’s next club ffs.

You want a yellow banner on breaking news that Everton are considering putting a bid in for a Championship midfielder?

Clubs don’t bid for players based on what Sky sports news says either!

I mean we have people on here who think we’ll get £80 million for N’Diaye.

Key thing here is the players preference.

If he has his heart set on here - he'll be here.

The clubs agreeing a fee is a side show. It will end up we sign him first 15 mill, with a sell in, which Boro will call a deal of a value if £20 mill with add ons.
Looking forward to Spurs gazumping us
