Transfer Rumour Hayden Hackney

The difference is that Hackney have done it in another league for a team expected to dominate and win matches, while Iroegbunam has been in and out of a team that defends deep, doesn't want to have possession and mostly play long balls instead of giving the ball to midfielders.

Yes, Hackney has been good in Championship. But Championship teams aren't competitive in Premier League.

After all promoted teams got relegated in back to back seasons, we finally had two teams surviving this season. Sunderland did it by replacing their entire team. While Leeds looked at where they had failed previously and recruited big, strong players that could run for days. They knew they wouldn't have a chance playing Gnonto and Dan James that did well for them in the Championship.

Anyone remember January 2025? Moyes were back in charge and we were linked with Sunderland's Dan Neil. Hundreds of posts were written in here about how great ha was in Championship. How fantastic Moyes was when recruiting from Championship. How Neil would walk into our poor midfield.

62 minutes with Premier League football did Dan Neil get for his beloved Sunderland. He is now out of contract and will leave for free.
Do you imagine everyone starts at the top?

Remember last year when Moyes professed himself shocked at players turning down Everton? Well, if rumours are to be believed, this lad is very keen to join Everton. Assuming the club rates him, get on with it. If he's a good player and he wants to join, make it happen. I'd much prefer a serviceable player who really wants to play for us than a slightly better one who signs reluctanty...or doesn't sign at all.

….window opens on 15th June, even if the rumours are true I doubt anything would be said officially ahead of that.

I just don't think Iroegbunam will ever be good enough to play in a team chasing European places.

Hackney, is also a risk as is the signing of any player. But, Hackney has been one of the stand out players in the championship for a couple of seasons , the test for him is to bring that level up to the Premiership.

Unfortunately Iroegbunam isn't good enough to be relied upon as a starting midfielder in the premier league and I don't believe he ever will be. He makes too many mistakes in dangerous positions and wants too much time on the ball. He's had good moments and is a good squad player but we need better if we want to improve.

….he played for us and we were chasing a European place

Does he track back and fall over his laces when attacking?

Has he got an active Instagram presence among Arsenal fans?

Would he be up to being a bodyguard for Lamine Yamal on weekends?

Key attributes of recent Everton signings, so let's hope he passes these tests.

Would allow iroegbunam to go on loan perhaps to Holland…really helped Brainthwaite

I see Hackney as a great Gana replacement. A nice future upgrade, but I suspect we plan to also move Tim and get a second, more expensive midfielder in.

Im assuming whether we pull the trigger on Hackney will end up being price. We arent keen for Dibling 2.0 right now and for all of their bluster Middlesbrough would be stupid to hold onto him this season.
