Transfer Rumour Hayden Hackney

At 23 you want a player to have done what Hackney has done. Stand out and be leading in the charts in their position with a refined role and quality.

It's still an unknown with Tim and you can't afford to keep carrying a player in the hope they'll get there.
The difference is that Hackney have done it in another league for a team expected to dominate and win matches, while Iroegbunam has been in and out of a team that defends deep, doesn't want to have possession and mostly play long balls instead of giving the ball to midfielders.

Yes, Hackney has been good in Championship. But Championship teams aren't competitive in Premier League.

After all promoted teams got relegated in back to back seasons, we finally had two teams surviving this season. Sunderland did it by replacing their entire team. While Leeds looked at where they had failed previously and recruited big, strong players that could run for days. They knew they wouldn't have a chance playing Gnonto and Dan James that did well for them in the Championship.

Anyone remember January 2025? Moyes were back in charge and we were linked with Sunderland's Dan Neil. Hundreds of posts were written in here about how great ha was in Championship. How fantastic Moyes was when recruiting from Championship. How Neil would walk into our poor midfield.

62 minutes with Premier League football did Dan Neil get for his beloved Sunderland. He is now out of contract and will leave for free.

Hackney hasn't just been good, he was POTY and leads multiple metrics not only in the Championship but for his age group across Europe.

DCL had his best season when he stayed between the posts under Ancelotti as he tended to drift out wide so not sure that makes your point. Not sure what Armstrong learnt other than he can't cross or get to the byline which he probably already knew.

….ha, ha, of course he did but what you need to understand is players learning about the game. They’ll be asked lots in a career; discipline, application, working for the team.

You go and watch a youth team managed by the likes of Neil Dewsnip, they think nothing of switching the CF and CB or playing the winger at FB. Playing Armstrong on RW ahead of other options was a real lead of faith in him and will do him no harm at all. It’s what good players do and Armstrong is certainly one of those.

He's a first team player not a kid and David Moyes is hardly an Ajax manager playing total football. If he played the beautiful game I could understand it to a degree but putting Armstrong on the wing or O'Brien at full back just makes the team less effective it doesn't develop the individual.

I personally think Iroegbunam is starting to get overrated on here due to glimpses rather than everlasting quality.
There’s defo a player in there, but he does still needs lots of coaching to show progression. The worry for new is that some things can’t be coached, if the player just didn’t get positional sense. My example would be Barkley. Was a good player, but could’ve been so much more if he’d made better decisions on the ball.

10 days before the window opens so not sure what your problem is yet.

Also players aren't back until the 1st week July so there is no rush.

I'm not in a rush. I just want major problems dealt with first...unlike last summer when the major issue was (as it is now) RB and they left it and left it until they declined to get one in.
