Transfer Rumour Hayden Hackney

He's 23 years old with no PL experience, not a Moyes player, Minutes will be limited, This summer we should be mainly buying players that will start, we have enough of bit part players, RB LB and Striker are of utmost importance and have been for near a decade with nothing done about it.

Correct.

As you say: first three through the door should be a right back, left back and a centre forward.

But what do we do? "Let's get another centre-midfielder in for the future".

It's calamitous, and just underlines that the lunatics have taken over the asylum at that club.

He’s also 23 years old with over 150 first team appearances in professional football.

He will probably have an adaptation period as he adjusts to the step up, but he’s got plenty of experience.

Why would that "put me off"?

Surely in your mind that would see me wanting to sign Hackney?

Are you sure you know what you're posting here?

Hackney is a roll of the dice. How is that an agenda, it's a statement of fact.

That so many people are that desperate to get over and put distance between themselves and a malfunctioning football club they support that the signing an unproven Championship player helps them do that is alarming.

"Get rid of Ireogbunam because he reminds me of Moyes' rubbish season and get that lad from Boro in so I can feel better".

What a basis to run a transfer window on.

Yes, clearly your sarcasm detection software isn’t working today.

Championship player of the year
23 years old
Over 150 appearances
England u21 euros winner

Exactly the kind of profile of player we’d be whining about if he signed for Bournemouth or Brighton.

Worth a punt at 15m by anybody’s reckoning.

(Apart from the forum mouth frothing lunatic of course).
15 mill does seem on the low side is he on the final year of his contract and would of thought more competition for his signature maybe not everyone had shown there hand

Will Moyes even allow him the minutes to adjust?

That’s the problem with signing promising younger players under this manager

If he’s sitting on a bench all season then it’s a waste of time and money

Southampton were so concerned about whether he going to play against them or not that it cost them a place in the Prem.

He's a very good footballer, I think he can make the jump up to the PL

I think we definitely need to improve in the middle of the pitch. Most people have moaned about it all year and now there's talk of us doing something about it they're saying it's unnecessary, which I don't really understand. The indications - and my assumptions - are that this would be more like a reshuffle of the options than us prioritising it or using up precious budget, it seems like there's a possibility Gana won't stay and they may look to move on Iroegbunam and/or Alcaraz, with the money being reinvested in players they think are better suited to what they want to do. Whether they're the right decisions is a different question, but I have no issue at all with them thinking that the midfield might not be the best in the league and could therefore be improved on.
Quite, and the tactics employed by Moyes are the root cause.

He never had a problem giving minutes to Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Coleman, Arteta and so on, who were all a similar age to Hackney when they signed from “lesser” leagues.

Some heavy revisionism going on in this forum lately.

That was young braveheart Davey, he was more fearless then, with player selection and tactically.

We’ve got cowardly lion Davey now, who sharts his kecks at the mere thought of playing dibling or Aznou, and has a panic attack over the thought of champions league qualification.

They ain’t the same person.

Again, he's going to be 24. That's older than Iroegbunam, older than Barry, older than Branthwaite, older than Rohl, older than Garner was when Moyes took over, older than O'Brien was. I'm not sure why everyone's acting like he's 18, he's basically coming into his peak years.

I'm not entirely sure about that mate. For instance, he did everything he could to get Neville on the pitch, to the detriment of the team as a whole late doors Mk.I. The one thing I will say in his defence though, Arteta did go straight in even though some fans couldn't see his potential and abilities.
