Transfer Rumour Hayden Hackney

Not sure as to where Dave’s agenda against this player has come from tbh. Might need to dig a bit deeper.

I'm pretty sure it comes from everyone basically being ok with the signing so we all knew where Dave would come down on the issue. It's not because he's a contrarian, however, he just has watched a lot of Middlesbrough matches. All of them, in fact. Since the 90s.

He's the same age as Tim Iroegbunam and I reckon he's far better. I don't hate it at £20m but the issue is I can't see Moyes playing him very much and even if he did, I don't think he'd get much out of him in this setup
The first thing his representatives will do is ask these questions.
You have to sell your project to them and after last summers signings, you need a new selling point.

If you're confident enough in your own ability, you wont be as bothered about last seasons situations.

That's what I can't get my head round. Surely he's spoken with Dibling and George when on U21 duty to get the picture.
Unless he's a fan of the seats we have in the dugout at Bramley Moore.

Hayden Hackney is TWENTY FOUR in a couple of weeks.

He last played for England u21s in June last year, before George or Dibling signed for us.

Not exactly a young player, he's just over a year younger than Garner.

Not too worried tbh, all 3 of those can get a tackle stuck in, also Hackney can be quite aggressive at times.

How good do you see the KDH-Garner-Hackney combo being compared with their midfield counterparts in the league?

I remember you mentioning Hackney ages ago.

Think he'll support the RW in a similar fashion to KDH supporting Grealish last season?

I don’t really see how that functions in our current system or really any variant of a 4-3-3. There needs to be a different skillset in there.

I’d love those options in my fantasy world 3 man back system that we’re going to transition to though.

Not in favour of this tbh.

He plays in the engine room for a Boro side that usually has about 60-70% possession in all their games. They never cope well off the ball though and that's what costs them a chance of promotion every year. In our side I can just see him being a passenger. Think back to the likes Gomes, Van De Beek, Iwobi in the ten, etc. Moyes will probably end up shunting him out wide anyway like he does to so many centre-mids. If I were him I'd avoid that scenario at all costs.

Good luck to the lad if he comes in but I'd be lying if I said he'd be the sort of signing I think will make a big difference for us next season.

He is a attacking central midfielder who has Aiden Morris playing as defensive midfielder behind him who is very solid but does all the defending, to the left he has Mcgree and to the right whittaker both skillful attacking players. If Boro had a decent striker they would have walked the Championship. Hackney is the only player in the Championship I feel can make it in the prem and if the rumored 15 million its a steal

That Morris doesn't half put a shift in .
Watched him a few times and he is very important for Boro,
One of those players that fall through the cracks when people look at the more skilful players.
Different world in the prem though .

I think we may need to stop trying to fit any new player into any team we had last season.
I think we may be going with a very different set up in season 26/27.

I think Gueye may not even be here next season or if he is then he may not start every game.

I think we may have Garner,Armstrong, Hackney(hopefully) KDH and Rohl.

Tim Iroegbunam may continue as a squad player or may be sold if a decent fee is received.
Gueye may stay but may not be happy to play less important role and may move on.

Clearly we will sign a right back, possibly two and also a left back.

I think we will sign a wide player and that may be George although I have seen Alonso wants to keep him at Chelsea.
Oh the foolishness of youth
Time will be a great educator my young friend
