Bryan Oviedo will give you a great effort - something working class fans can relate to and appreciate even if things don't always go to plan. He's a 7/10 player.
Gibson has no pace, isn't good in the air, has a reasonable range of passing, and isn't great in the tackle either. His best attribute if he ever gets forward enough to use it is his shot. And his drink/fitness issues are a liability, 51 games in four and a half years tells you something. At the absolute best he's a 5/10.
On the upside for you, Moyes knows them and the other ex-Everton players really well.

Oviedo had a fantastic spell prior to his injury when he was covering Baines, since his injury he isn't the same player, doesn't get forward enough anymore. In his last few games for us he has looked solid enough defensively, there's a chance with a run of games he might put in performances closer to his ability, which is probably mid to lower table Prem (before injury). At the moment he is Championship level, but I'd rather have Championship players with a great attitude over bottom half prem players with a poor attitude in your predicament.

Gibson on the other hand is now a championship player with a poor attitude and bad fitness problems, I really can't understand why you've gone near him, desperation IMO. He has in the past had some great games for us and arguably been one of a more important players at times, but that is the past. He has good passing range, not 'sublime' as some people have suggested, that is bit over the top but I don't think he could get around enough anymore to make you any better than you are as most games you are going to be playing without the ball, and how far off full fitness is he? you could be down already by the time he puts in a half decent performance.

Oviedo is the kind of lad you would want to be your son-in-law.

Gibson is like the friend of a mate who you meet on a night out, have a cracking time and then can't remember much about it. Then cringe next week when he appears at work as your new team leader.

Not sure that either of them are good news these days if they are planned as first team regulars.

Best of luck to Sunderland, but I think you should get these songs ready for your playlist:

Down down - Status Quo
Falling down - Oasis
Goin' Down - Melanie C
Right round - Flo Rida

Followed by...

Tears On My Pillow - Kylie Minogue

Oviedo is better than average, has commitment in spades and apparently a fantastic, grounded guy.
Gibson is capable of being a decent player, but does everything within his power to screw this up and is a bell.
Could be worse, you could have taken Kone as well - but there's time yet.
Hope the relegation doesn't happen by the way.

What actually is 'haway'?

Oviedo is boss, actually gutted he never forced his way into the team, there was a time before his injury that most on here thought he would soon be as good as Coleman is. Gibson is an absolute waste of time sadly though, I read that if Tom Davies plays in two more matches this season he's played more than Gibson in the last four years!

Gibson is decent when fit, but you never see him fit, so you never see him being decent.

Oviedo had a good spell a few years ago but then got a horrible injury. Since then he's been absolute plop but he's the type of fella who understands how lucky he is to be a professional footballer and will connect with the fans.
