Oviedo decent, but not as good as pre-injury. Bought by Moyes because "he reminds me of Bainsey" he said. Don't really agree with that but he was good at times.

Gibson could have been a good player. He had the talent however seems content to waste it. Shame.

Please tell me their better than rodwell .. it's almost impossible not to be.. isn't it?!
Hello mate. I have to be honest and admit I was a huge fan of Gibson when he arrived here and in his first few months he more than justified my faith. Was far and away our best player when fit. Unfortunately it's already been stated clearly here that he is his own worst enemy. .. such a shame as on his day he is a class act. I hope you get a decent version of him.

Well. Yes, sort of. But not much really.

Put it this way, on a footballing level, no Evertonians are crying at the deal. Oviedo is sound, Gibson is also, when fit/sober.

Hope that helps
To be honest a drunken half fit Gibson will probably be enough to put rodwell to shame.. seems Oviedo is steady away so fingers crossed

Il not hold my breath then eh haha .. never a dull moment at SAFC

Both carry the same major fault that their fitness is an issue.

Oviedo is great on his day, will work hard and not bad going forward.
Not as good as Baines though so was always an awkward position.

Gibson can pick a pass, great when he first arrived but also had some decent through moment we were in Europa the other year iirc.

Personality wise Oviedo is a gem and all of the squad seem to love him, Gibson need to sort it out and not drink drive again.

Oviedo won't let you down. His attitude is first class and if he comes as the first choice left-back you'll be pleasantly surprised at how capable he is. For me, with a little bit of luck and without that nasty leg break he would quite possibly have dislodged Baines, who at the time was too pre-occupied with undermining the manager.
Gibson has bags of ability but lacks a bit of moral fibre. Seems like he's easily distracted off the field which is unfortunate because when he's fit and has game time in his legs he has great passing ability. If Moyes can get inside his head and get him on the pitch regularly then you've got yourself a decent midfielder for absolute peanuts. I'm not making a straight comparison before anyone jumps down my throat, but I recall the stick Sir Howard got when he signed that booze-happy, physical wreck of a midfielder from Bolton for about £60,000....and look what happened there. Strangely he went on to manage you Mackems.

Either way, good luck for the fight.

Us evertonians rarely agree on things but it obivious we do on our views on these 2 players. Ovideo nice lad. Average to good player. Gibson bad lad. Good to very good player when not drunk.

Bry has a beautiful smile and is actually a pretty good footballer, I'd say it's a very astute signing by Moist. Oviedo has had lots of injuries and that's unfortunately taken a bit of a toll on him, but if fit he's easily one of the top seven or eight left backs in the league. He gets forward well, is a great team player and very clearly a popular figure in the dressing room. He'll do very well at Sunderland I'm certain.

Gibson has been basically stealing a wage for years, although not his fault I guess that other people deem him worthy of new contracts despite never playing. If fit, which is never the case but nonetheless, he's a good technical player who'll play the ball forward and look to start attacks from the heart of midfield. For very little money and just for 18 months I'm sure he'll be a sound signing too.

Ovideo runs for days and will put the effort in, better in defence than van arnholt.
Gibson has never been fit for one season as a professional.

Gibson, FIT, will release Defoe into a forest of goals. But he has a drink problem.

Oviedo is sound, thats about it really. Lovely lad, but got snapped in half a while back and hasnt really done much since.
As the above poster said, if Gibson stays fit then you have an excellent player who can spot a pass.

I like Oviedo, not the best defensively but neither was PVA so that shouldnt make a difference, plus he's good going forward. Excellent attitude too.

They can both definitely help your cause and I hope you stay up - good luck.

The above poster? Above poster!! That's no poster.. That's Roydo!!
