2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Could it be that we feel he isn’t ready to be starting premier league games in the middle of the park yet?

It’s often spoke about how Diblings eventual position will be central, but he’s not ready yet. Nobody questions that.

How’s it any different with Armstrong?
If he's not ready to start in midfield (I think he is anyway) then just don't start him. Bizarre to bench two teenage wingers in George and Dibling to play a teenage centre mid on the wing.

Find it funny that Armstrong playing has been used as a stick to beat Dibling with tbh. 'See, Moyes WILL play teenagers if they're doing what he wants to see' - it's becoming increasingly clear that what Moyes wants to see from his wide players is not the same as what most fans want to see.

And that's no criticism of Armstrong who I really rate.

We as in the club. But yeah, the manager if you like.

He’s gaining valuable premier league match experience.

It’s not unheard of for a young player to earn his stripes in a more forgiving position than the one he will eventually play.
In the right circumstances I have no issue with it, but I don't really think these are the right circumstances. We have a crippling lack of width in the side as it is, so putting him there just adds to it and causes issues for the team, and as we're not really playing for anything in particular I don't really see why we couldn't play him more centrally - it's not like we're scrapping for our lives or chasing the top 4 so if we want to give him games do it in the position he's going to play.

Gueye has a few limp shots a game straight for a goal kick too to be fair
He does. His shooting frustrates the hell out of me. All our chances always seem to fall to him and you know he’s gonna sky it before it leaves his boot.

I was just making a point.

I sound like I’m digging Armstrong out here, and that wasn’t my intention.

I’m just glad he’s getting premier league minutes. I too, would rather it was as a central midfielder, but if the alternative was him being at Preston still, then I’m glad he’s playing where he is.

Who had a chance to get us a goal up and hit a tame effort straight at the keeper = Armstrong.

We could do this all day Joe, but I really can’t be bothered.
Well don't post about Garna is fine then .... your out of kilter with most posters - since Gana came back from the Afcon our team has suffered in midfield .... he just goes A wall at least HA shot the keeper had to save ....

Yet Garna plays, every week never substituted early on - I would have subbed him at half time TBH ....

Moved HA into central midfield & fetched George on as he is a winger ....

I agree HA like the rest of them bar Garner were poor last night as DM got the team selection wrong yet again .....

Garna's poor cross as it hit the first defender - caused the breakaway United's goal we had men on the back post waiting for a decent cross....

Nah was just adding that mate, doesn't seem you're digging him out tbh. Joey might think otherwise but he's built different.

Left wing is better than bench/Preston, but in a shortage and/or with players out of form the worst he can be is as good/bad as them really was my point.

He has started games in the middle though and done ok. The midfield 3 at Villa (Garner behind Rohl and Armstrong) worked fine, yet he hasn’t played there since, and Rohl hasn’t kicked a ball since.

The lad is clearly a good player but he is also clearly not a winger.

We haven’t scored a single a goal across the last 5 games while he has been on the pitch - that’s almost 5 hours of football.

The balance isn’t there. That is on Moyes for his refusal to play with width and proper fullbacks. All of our goals in the last five games have came when we’ve had two natural wide players on the pitch.

I’d rather he was playing centre mid in the championship that left wing in the prem.

Think he’d develop far more getting experience in the position we want him to play.

Moyes is just too afraid to play young players. Remember he turned Jack Rodwell into a centre mid because he was to afraid to play him at centre back, his actual position. Rodwell referred to that ruining him in later years.

If Moyes had been here when Barkley came through he’d have taken much longer to come through. Imagine Moyes would have used him sparingly, probably out wide where he shunted Leon Osman.

Play the boy at centre mid. He doesn’t look remotely like a winger. Ram it Moyes.

Congratulations on setting Joey off again
No need we need rugby post instead of goal nets under DM its like a rugby Union line out here -

That is just plain ridiculous that what happened to common sense ? I know I'll just run onto the crowd and I'll have the leap on the defender. If that ball somehow goes in the net you know someone will have fouled someone and it's disallowed. We need a striker coach and a dead ball coach, we need players playing in their proper positions and players having the courage to support each other, to get ahead of the ball and get into the box, it's just not happening and we are not scoring enough goals.
