2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Last time I popped into here there was much posting about all these players who were so much better than Armstrong, how he was way down the order etc . I was shocked , I thought I’d missed something so checked the league table thinking we were in the CL places . We weren’t, and have dropped further to 12 , not won a game since March when we beat the mighty Burnley at home. 3 points from the last 6 games is serious relegation form in anyone’s book. So I laugh when people say he was “ overhyped” , but they’re happy to accept mediocrity from players starting ahead of him despite recent results , or blame it all on our defence despite the fact that even after a poor run of late only 5 clubs have let in less goals .

Don't ever move a manager upstairs ( especially an old school manager ) A manager will always want to manage no matter what new title he is given. No new Manager/Coach will want to work under a manager, It's a guarantee head clash and very hard to try and implement your own game when it's different than the man upstairs.

Shake hands, say thanks, part ways on a good note.

Big reason Utd have been a basket case is because Ferguson has always stuck around.
See Ranieri at Roma

Who is happy accepting mediocrity? Everybody on this forum has been miserable as sin and rightly so.

I think Armstrong will be a great player for us in years to come but Garner and KDH have played every game and he’s not as good as them and Gana has been injured so Tim is the better replacement for what he offers.
In hindsight, KDH has been rubbish but there’s no way we’re dropping him ahead of the last couple of games when he’s been our biggest source of goals this season.

Other than that we could play him right wing where he wasn’t very good because it’s not his position and Rohl has done alright there in the last two

Both us and Preston nosedived since he was taken out of each team.

Yes but we let too many goals in HA can play the defensive midfield role very well !

Oh I agree, our midfield should be a fundamental part of initially protecting the defence , Armstrong though has played his best in a midfield three , either deepest of the three or further forward. Moyes likes to play a 2 and won’t pick him there. We won’t see Armstrong playing there this season now, I think his opportunity will come pre season particularly if Gana needs extended time off after the WorldCup .
