2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Hes not really a blue mate .
He sees us a project or some thing like on football manager. No emotional attachment to the club what so ever.
Never had . Never will.
This isn't the first time I've said this I'm almost certain, but supporters are allowed to have different thoughts and feeling towards the club than yours without it making them lesser. The only thing you really tend to contribute around here is a looking down your nose arrogance toward more or less everyone, and it's a sad existence. People care in different ways and want to see different things. I want us to win each and every week, but I want us to be a side that actually exists at a level that they can win every week more than that. If that makes me a bad fan whatever, I'm not looking for approval anyway.

You're asking posters to highlight what Armstrong is "good" at.

The answer is, everything. He's an all rounder.

You compare with Iroegbunam and his positioning and passing is better. Then you can compare with Scholes and his tackling is better.

Then you say "in the premier league".

He's only just turned 19 and started playing in the premier league.

On his current trajectory he'll be a permanent fixture in our and Englands midfield for over a decade.

Whether he can continue improving and developing is a whole different question. The leadership, confidence and yet seemingly 'down to earth' mentality will serve him well, hopefully.

Someone with Armstrongs skillset could become a fantastic all rounder. There will be other players who are better at individual things but he could be very good at everything.

In English olden times, midfielders used to have to be good at everything. There werent really 6,8 or 10s. We played 442 and those 2 central midfielders needed to be all rounders.

Currently we have Gana & Garner there. It should be KDH & Garner. Armstrong will be competing with those 2 who should be around the England squads.

If he can push them then it means hes doing well.

I want to once again emphasize that I am pulling for the kid and want with everything I have to see him succeed. This feels hyperbolic. I just personally don't see anything like this in his game right now.

And yes he's young and just starting out! But when you're saying "permanent fixture in England's midfield for a decade" there has to be substance there right now no? I mean when people were doing this with Jack Wilshere at least it was because he was standing up to Xavi and Iniesta.

I didnt say he could do that now.

I wrote if he continues on his current trajectory.

12months ago he was going to Derby on loan as a deep midfielder.

6months ago he was going to Preston as a central midfielder.

Today he's started the previous handful of games in the premier league.

That is a massive growth in performance level from 12months ago.

If he had the same improvement in 12months time, where will he be?

Derby and Preston are the same level no?

I don't know where that leaves him. I think it would be beneficial if he had a better manager I know that much.

We're not a week removed from him being dragged off, rightly, at halftime of a game where we got much better without him. IMO we need to put a big old foot firmly on the brake pedal with the kid, and frankly I think he'd be better off if we just let him see out the loan at Preston. As much as Moyes says he's going to find minutes for him do we really trust that? And if they're on the right wing does it even matter?

The hyperbole suits no one. We've seen that before. I remember Jack Rodwell. I remember Tom Davies. I remember Ross Barkley, who btw is a good example of a young talent where the question "what is he good at" was never that hard to answer.

Derby were fighting relegation, with him joining they survived. Preston were competing in the playoff positions, without him they cant win a game.

Its similar to comparing playing for West Ham and one of the top 6. Different levels.

To go from Derby to starting each week for Everton is huge. At 19 years of age is massive, do you know how hard that is?

Again, if he continues on his current trajectory he'll be some player.

To use your word, "hyperbole", its "hyperbole" to downplay his quality and achievements so far.

To play for David Moyes at 19 years of age and start for him is like a Christmas miracle.

I’d have been fine if he went back to Preston. On the one hand Moyes has given him minutes, on the other he has all of his options back, enough to not play him.

If he plays him, wonderful. If not, wasted 4 months.

If he’d gone back to Preston then come August he’d be back where he is now, capable of playing in the PL but still learning and improving. Our coaching team can work with him, show videos etc of his PL minutes, where he can improve, particularly runs he should/shouldnt be making . He has a teenage tendency to run ahead into positions he can’t be found with the ball, at Derby and Preston he took more responsibility and moved towards the ball to help out and received it more. Such a wonderful talent who’s progression in 2 years has been amazing

Well done to Harrison Armstrong for going back to you guys and making a great impression, enough to stick around and probably get many more minutes in the PL this season.

Thanks for the loan. In some respects, you guys recalling him forced our hands to bring in a couple of permanent players in the window, which hasn't been our style lately as we've been quite reliant on loans.

Appreciate Harrison's time here. He's going to be a big player. Glad we could play a very tiny part in his story.
