2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Nothing like him Joey. Colin never got sent out on loan.
The reserves were the top down back then - they played at home when the first team were away hence the state of the pitches -
Harry Catterick had the foresight to develop younger players as prices went very high his title 1970 side had at least 5- 6 both players in it as forvHarvey he could split a defence with one pass - HA has proved he can do that a future England international imo...

1970 v WBA at home a 30 yard screamer to win us the title - CH was a scheme player & a great retriever of the ball - plus got us to Wembley ln 1966 with the o lying goal in the semi final v United!
O lying if HA could do that for us ....
Yeah but Harrison didn't nearly ruin the club for generations, killing our status as top 5 buying atteveld, rehn, McDonald etc. So well done future harrison

This might be a debate worthy of a thread of its own, but imo Colin Harvey is the greatest living Evertonian by some distance and was at least as important to our success in the 80s as Howard was.

….you keep on mentioning Catterick & Colin Harvey and it’s a bit of a nonsense.

I’m also an old bloke but I recognise how totally different the ‘60s were to modern day, indeed I’m not even sure if the loan system was a thing back then. We also had a conveyer belt of local talent, most teams brought youngsters through it just wasn’t a global game back then and football was all we played as kids.

We won a Youth Cup in ‘65 and from memory, Catterick only brought Hurst and Husband through from the crop. It’s just not an era to compare with now but I know you continually like to

i wonder what this thread will conjure up now

looking forward to him being dropped for kdh and gana in a couple weeks (but still getting valuable premier league minutes off the bench and the odd start) and this thread being full of posters claiming we’re ruining his development. because in their mind more minutes equals better player, as opposed to the nuance of premier league exposure alongside higher quality players perhaps being more developmental following two loan spells in the championship

I think it's fair to say there's a tipping point where one becomes better than the other depending on how many minutes he actually gets.

I do think I got the vibe that Moyes was really only going to keep him here if he was absolutely getting decent minutes though so it'll probably be sound.

this is true, but seen so many posts that seem to think hes not going to get a single minute, or that coming on for 20 minutes against say arsenal at the emirates in a tight game (hopefully) isnt massively beneficial for his development

also so many that seem massively confident that we’re gonna have all our midfielders fit at once. chance would be a fine thing

if we do get kdh and iroegbunam back soon, and don’t sign a winger, i can see him playing on the right ahead of mcneil and dibling, not as an out and out winger but tucked in a bit similar to how he used osman in the past

though if moyes does do that he needs a proper attacking right back to overlap him

We have a 60s football argument with two big hitters bubbling, the thread isn't over yet

Plus we are going to have joey rants in every non English midfielder threads
