2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

I don't or never did question if he had the ability, I didn't want him going at the start, but I, like many of posters watched it pay off.

All i'm saying here is, Moyes made that decision, so in Moyes eyes, he wasn't going to be getting the gametime.

What we think is irrelevant if the manager doesn't see that.

He's playing, let's just be happy with that..
Yep, I was very much the same, didn’t want him to go and even Moyes was unsure that last weekend. Then we signed Rohl and it tipped the balance re Armstrong getting game time. Most people then shrugged their shoulders, the manager had made his decision , the loan was happening , just get behind him, watch him when we can.

No I didn’t mean you at all Swartzy - just lots of fans! It’s a bee in my bonnet that when people get back from a loan and come into the team and do well, it’s generally accepted that it’s because of the loan. Sometimes it definitely is, but sometimes I think the player was absolutely ready to contribute already and conservative management teams have just held the player back. I remain totally convinced that Branthwaite was ready to start for us every week when he went to PSV - and anyone who disagrees needs to remember that we had Connor Cody playing instead of him that year!

tbf this is a good point, barkley had a short loan at sheff wed then went well but he already looked ready from the performances he had made in 11/12 and 12/13, and then the leeds one was a disaster and he was likely good enough to start for us or at least make a contribution as he then showed with his performance at arsenal in april 2013

he then had a brilliant season under martinez and played at a world cup

in that instance he just needed to be playing for everton

however, he was slightly older than armstrong, and had that bit more natural ability and big weapons to his game

regardless, the armstrong loan at preston went well and i don’t think he would have got many opportunities until the injuries and afcon piled up, so it did work well and now we’re reaping the benefits

I`ve never wrote DCL off Joey, please show me where I said this ?

I may have said it was time for him to move on, which his move to the mighty Leeds, has proved to be correct decision for him.

However he also did himself no favours, by playing the hokey cokey with the contract that was on offer from us, talking about Champions League clubs ( never happening ) which was all designed to get us to up his wages.
In Ancelotti period you did short memory....

For me, physically, technically and mentally he's a premier league player.

He will only get better, but we have to accept the poor games that almost certainly will come along the road for his development.

He is going to undoubtedly be a top talent, and I hope he's a player that is with us for a very long time.
