2024/25 Harrison Armstrong

Who does he contribute more than? There absolutely no chance of Moyes playing him over any of the more senior midfielders in a competitive game.
At the moment, Charly. He is certainly no worse. Don’t care who is more senior. Whoever is performing best plays with a squad this thin.

Also no idea where Tim should be playing. He’s an athlete, but scattergun as a footballer. Certainly couldn’t see him slowing the break down to allow Gana to overlap and time the pass to create a chance.

Crazy to force Armstrong in of course you are right. But without incomings, he’s sadly needed. He plays with his head up at least. Spots potential gaps through moving players to slide passes through. Ndiaye, for all his supreme ability and strength on the ball, does not. Neither does anyone else.

Garner is not great, but wouldn’t loan him or Tim out either without incomings.

Well as things stand he is, because he’s better than 3/4 of the players, getting regular minutes. I hope he’s he’s a long way back come September the first. Because that would mean we’ve had a good august
He really isn't though. He's not better than Tim or Gana or McNeil or Alcaraz or Garner at the moment. He may be in time but he isn't now. He doesn't look athletic enough to me.

While I agree to a certain extent, some of the ones in the 1st team you talk about are garbage 8/9 games out of 10, but as they’re seen as 1st team players they automatically keep their spots. I’m sure we’re both hoping we have massive upgrades on McNeil, Patterson, garner, even Alcaraz come the start of the season.

But if it was starting tomorrow, I’d have no issue playing Armstrong next to gana in midfield, instead of garner
That's absolutely insane. Garner played in loads of games last year were we played well and won. He's limited but he does a job to a known level. You are making the classic mistake of assuming that an unknown quantity is better than a known but limited quantity.

There is absolutely no way he is better than Alcaraz. That's an absolutely insane shout

Our midfield apart from Gana Guaye is rubbish - the lad is always looking for a through ball & made our goal - also the two striker inability to link the midfield up is worrying too...

Harrison Armstrong is playing in a very poor midfield & when Garner came on it looked worse ....

Well he’s not unknown and I wouldn’t say we played well loads of times. We were just a hard working team that were brilliant defensively and very hard to beat. How many MOM did garner get ?? Him and gana were also the only 2 fit centre midfielders available, so Moyes had no option but to play him.

Why the hate for a young lad, technically at 18 he’s better than McNeil, garner and Tim. Tim was terrible ran around but atrocious on the ball. McNeil again shocking performances, he’s a coward, just constantly goes backwards never takes on a player. And Garner is a championship player, when them 3 leave let’s see where they end up

To be totally honest he DID kinda overhit the layoff to Gana but it worked out in the end anyway, just..
A goal is a goal he gets the asist - simple - look he is working in a poor midfield & two strikers who last night could not hold the ball up to link our poor midfield ... Harrison Armstrong shoed flashes of intelligence on the ball - if fans think one star signing will sort that midfield or wingers out - they are deluded - DM was correct we need many signings ....

There is absolutely no evidence that Harrison can play in the premier league. He's been ok at a relegation fighting Championship team. Garner was one of the best players in a promotion chasing Championship team. Harrison has played barely any minutes in the premier league. Garner has played plenty of games and whilst not flashy and a limited he has done a job on numerous occasions for us. As it stands you hope Harrison is better because he is unproven. But there is no evidence for that belief. You're just making the classic mistake of assuming an unknown player is better than a known player. People always do this with young players. They think there's no way a younger player could be any worse than Keane or Harrison until they play a few games and then we realise they are invariably much much worse. There are levels and even really bad premier league footballers are much better than 99.9% of professional footballers.
