Greek Financial Crisis

Looks like they have done a deal/kicked the can down the road/fudged it again. Take your pick.

The gist of it is that there will be tax rises on "the wealthy" and "businesses", which seems to swerve one central problem the Greeks have doing.

Collecting taxes.

The sooner they bail out, the better for them imo.

Glad for them.

The panic was real.

Our hotel was offering a discount if you would pay cash on arrival because they don't trust that they can withdraw their takings.

Shot confidence makes for a bad circle.

If there is one consolation for the Greeks as their beautiful country - full of culture and history - goes down the plughole, it is that they can tuck their children in at night and whisper to them softly "At least we're not Texas".

You sir are absolutely correct on that point. The Greek economy, in comparison, isn't anywhere close to the Texas economy.

Show an example whereby socialism exists under capitalist terms and can influence to that degree.

The heads of 'finance' may have been charged in th states but over here they have been rewarded for their gambling sddiction that has cost us individuals dearly with bonuses, relaxed regulation and an almost free rein to continue

...and not one of those instances, while needing to be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law, caused the Greek economic collapse. Are you saying Greece was a purely capitalist society like the USA? What Europe should be worried about is that there are several other countries who have burdened themselves under these types of socialist policies and are now having to pay the piper. It's all great until you run out of other people's money.

I think you'll find that opening themselves up to a larger market twinned with almost everyone dodging tax and the repercussions of a seven year old crisis of capitalism are the reasons behind the ongoing Greek crisis.

Nothing to do with spending what you don't have.
