Greeks all avoid tax...
Uli Hoeness, Bayern Munich and German football legend, sentenced to 3.5 years in jail for tax avoidance. Since trial more than 26,000 German tax evaders have opted for 'voluntary disclosure'.

Greeks are on the fiddle...

Manipulation of LIBOR was 'organised fraud' and 'the biggest financial scandal ever'.

Greek government is wastefully spending money...
Greece has the second biggest expenditure on defence amongst NATO members, behind the USA. Main arms sales to Greece are from the USA, Germany and France, and a number of defence companies from those countries have been involved in paying bribes for contracts.

Greece is manipulating the EU for its own ends...
Those German banks who made risky loans to Greece have been bailed out by the ECB intervention and the risk transferred to the EU taxpayer.

You're not wrong.

New Labour overspent during their reign, I was a beneficiary of it, as were thousands of expensive projects and hundreds-of-thousands of other people.

Nice work if you can get it...except no one seemed to pay attention to where the money was coming from and how it would get re-fueled.

Syriza seem even less clued up about such flow of monies. I cautiously support the idea of anti-establishment political parties but they must be economy-savvy.

Ignore the strife, enjoy the life! Corfu is supposed to be gorgeous
Cheers mate, been a few times before...lovely place..stunning scenery and mythos in a frosty glass is heaven :)

I have only had one holiday in Greece, it was in 2009 and on Lesvos. We were there for 10 days.

Everywhere we went, if we wanted a drink, food, present or petrol it all had to be in cash and no receipt, means takings not recorded in full. I have a friend who has had several holidays on Skiathos and frequently used the publlc transport, in the majority of trips the bus fare money was pocketed and no ticket given. Bear in mind there is a similar practice up at the top of Greek society including the politicians of the past.

By the way, obviously, lived in Corfu. Where you heading?
Not sure if that was aimed at me but agios stefanos...i believe. Quite close to spiridon ?? Brilliant place..great beach too. Where did you live on corfu ?? And why the kinell did you return here ? Sun, sea and dark haired godesses....you must be mad :)

Let me just say......... having finished work about half an hour ago........... the islands are fine. The Mainland and the parts of the country that tourism doesn't hit are the ones that feel it. If you have booked a holiday to the islands........... DON'T PANIC.

There's a San Stefanos North and a San Stefanos south lid and it was a while ago so from memory the one in the north was quiet and the one in the south quiet but too near Kavos which stinks.

I suppose I just missed Bootle lid. Plus the company I was contracting for went bust.
