Greek Financial Crisis

No mate he told you and your uninformed opinion to pipe right down.

Being told by a Greek that I have an uninformed opinion on global finances - is like having Micky Mouse lecture me on astro physics.

I know this crisis is hurting the average Joe by the way. I just wish the Greek politicians would grow up a bit and realise their responsibilities.

...and not one of those instances, while needing to be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law, caused the Greek economic collapse. Are you saying Greece was a purely capitalist society like the USA? What Europe should be worried about is that there are several other countries who have burdened themselves under these types of socialist policies and are now having to pay the piper. It's all great until you run out of other people's money.

Other people's money? Such a naive statement can only come from an adherent of inconsequential capitalist monetarism.

You seem to believe that anything, literally anything, that isn't capitalism is automatically socialistic and therefore equates to something bad and something wrong. How bad or wrong is it to actually give a flying one about others?

The 'Greeks' didnt do this to themselves, they didn't, en masse, decide to bugger up the country, the influence of the combined collective under democracies around the world have very little input, influence or effect on proceedings at levels above them.

The global system of monetarist greed brings this situation to the fore, profits before people, been drummed into the populations often enough as a mantra to become dogma. It is blind greed. The very entrepreneurial people your country believes to be salvation are the very ones suffering in Greece too.

That trickle down theory had one major flaw didn't it? Friedman meant trickle up...

Going to Santorini 25th July ........... will there be any cash in the banks left by then??? Or take it all with me??
mate of my girls just back from Skiathos, said the bank machines were empty from mid week, you can still use your credit cards though,
Have been to Santorini by the way loved it, you will need plenty of cash in some of the places there mate, but like everywhere else if you look around some decent places to eat/drink at a good price.
They have stopped a few night flights to both those places as they cant afford to run the systems at present,
Holiday firms are keeping a close eye on it.
My brother is off to Pefkos today will let you know if its the same there.

As taxpaying was a minority sport in Greece they had to borrow money to pay the wages, simples

Could well truly arrive on July 1st.

I still think they will find an agreement that will see them bailed out for now, but still think they will default eventually.

Brilliant country, lovely people and not their fault!
Is he any good? Is he on a free?

We want countries in the EU when they're doing well, but when they struggle we try and kick them out

As a general rule, I'm pro EU, but that place is in desperate, DESPERATE need of reform

I genuinely believe that it's better for all of us in Europe if we try and work together, but the EU in it's current form isn't working.

EU is ineffective and weak. When Russia wants to talk they just call to Markel and say we dont need others to mess up the talks.

The day when Turkey starts EU member negotiations/joins EU is the day when Europe sells it soul.
That would be it for me.

there was a program on tv a few years back about Turkey joining the EU, quite a few of them didnt want to join, if they come in watch others leave.

I expect them having borders with Syria, Iran and Iraq is a big reason why they don't want Turkey to join the EU.
