That looks and sounds ace - will deffo give that a go this summer

It's fantastic mate, but if you're looking at a weekend you need to book yonks ahead, unless you go early doors to the pub and you can walk in then.

We had my missus birthday there last year, we booked the B and B out and after the pub shut we had the place to ourselves. There was an " honesty bar " with wine, every spirit you could think of, plus there's Bose sound system too, so it was a big one !

Thanks for the info mate - just checking the website...looks good

This is my favourite pub anywhere, EVER! The Square and Compass in Worth Matravers. If you are ever in Dorset seek it out!

On my list to visit , thanks .
No worries! I love this thread! If you go to York try Trembling Madness or the Black Swan!

And in Southampton (a bit further out of centre) there is a great place called The Butcher's Hook. An old butchers shop, complete with original tiles etc, that has a rack of cask and kegs and a few seats!

Lol, my missus is from York and her parents live around the corner from Trembling Madness, it's a semi local when we are in York. Never been in the Swan as its the other end of town to where we stay, but will make a point of popping in now .

Hopefully it'll run for a long time. There's so many fantastic pubs out there !

York might be the best place for a pub crawl anywhere! Just soooooo many to choose from!

We need a non-chain restaurant thread now!

They reckon that within the boundary of the City walls there's a pub for every day of the year and very few seem to close or get ripped out and ruined, due to it having an all year round tourst trade / cash coming in.

The non chain restaurant is a belting idea, although I think it's a bit more subjective with it being food rather than beer !
