GOT Fitness LOG

What happened with me was I used to weigh about 101.5kg, but I was ****ing fat (only 5 ft 8). Anyway, I lost about 18kg in 6 months and got to a pretty good size. Problem is I lost so much muscle and strength along the way. Even before I wasn't exactly overly strong (no where near what i'm doing now).

So my training routine for every different muscle was to lift as heavy as possible for low reps for the first few sets, and then drop the weight on my last couple of sets. This, combined with doing negatives, built my strength up so damn quickly. I was struggling so damn hard on 35's each side about 5-6 months ago, but as soon as I changed my training routine that changed.

Another thing, if you're trying to manage weight as well, doing long sessions of low intensity cardio probably isn't going to help you gain muscle. Try to high intensity intervals instead eg. sprinting or going hard on the bike or whatever. Why do you think sprinters are big and ripped.

I think you win this thread mate

Stop being hard on yourselves, every extra rep or extra weight is an achievement. The hardest thing is getting over the psychological aspect of what you're doing, if you're indifferent about how heavy you lift then it will be easier to make gains. Also never compare yourself to others, rather use it as motivation.

Oh yeah and just enjoy training...biggest piece of advice I could give

I did Bjj (no gi) followed by Muay Thai last night. body is always knackered the day after. I don't really do heavy weights or traditional weights.
use a lot of kettle bell's, sand bags, medicine ball etc. really like the boot camp training.

Had a swim on friday, saturday had a chest and triceps session, and yesterday just had a skip for 10 mins, which is enough to knacker me out. Will go tomorrow for shoulders/legs, I suspect.

I also weighed myself on one of those things in Boots which does your body fat % and BMI. I'm going mainly to get my body fat % down, its currently 17.6% (as of 1 month ago), I'll be happy with a decrease in that. Going to measure it on the first of every month, so soon.

Suppose i'm going to actually start using this as a log.

Belted out a 7km run in 32 minutes today, close to my best.

I try to mate but I often forget. It would be good motivation if everyone used this thread I think!

Off to the gym in an hour or so to do chest and shoulders. Followed by a bit of core.

Upped my game today, haha. 65kg on the bench press. Proud of myself, and I probably could've gone to 70 but it was in my last set, and didn't want to overdo it as I had a lot of stuff planned as well.

More weights on pretty much everything though, proud of myself here.

Nice one mate. It's a good feeling when you break the 60/70kg barrier. Unfortunately I seldom get to do bench press with a bar as I mostly go the gym on my own, so it's dumbbells for me and a bit of the machines. I can't help but feel that's slowing my progress though.
