Gosling

Is there no chance of him going back to full back? I don't know what he's like defensively but he looks tidy enough on the ball. We have a good attacking full back on the left, could he not be our one on the right?

Probably, but i don't think Moyes would risk trying, with 3 other fine right backs in the squad.

I like Gosling, I rate him more than Rodwell at the moment. I think he's performed better in the positions he's been in.

Hes a player, i think he will end up in the centre personally for me his outstanding attribute is his engine, i think he could provide some pace, mobility and penatration in the centre when he gets more consistent.

He reminds me a wee bit of Gareth Barry starting of, i certainly wouldnt be speaking in definites about a 19 year - old has great potential and will make a prem career.

his best attribute for me (along with rodwell) has to be composure.

i remember this summer someone had started a thread about how our youngsters would need to carry the team in the absence of new signings, and someone else mentioned how the youths would melt in front of the goal in a big game, no matter how skilled they are.

gosling has to be one of the most confident players we have, he takes his chances outside the box which noone else on our team really does. to have the composure to finish that ball against liverpool, in a cup game in the 118th minute is just immense, and its absurd to think that he's only a couple months older than me!

he isn't the fastest player at the moment, but he can get faster, i think he has great positioning on and off the ball, he looks a bit sporadic on defense at times but comes up with big steals to make up for it. overall he seems to have a good footballers head, there are times where i've seen our players swing the ball around predictably, but similar to baines he seems to have fresh ideas.

i wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him turn into a first team regular next season, we'll have to wait and see though

Just watched Goslings interview on Everton TV, he's like a little kid, aww bless.

Anyway, as ive said - he is quite similar to Cahill in terms of movement. Gosling said he tries to copy his runs, movement and positioning to get into them goal scoring positions..

...He also called Saha - King Louis - didnt know the players called him that

I wonder what they are going to do with Gosling, his contract is coming to an end and Rodwell has already sign a new contract.

I hope we get Gosling sign up on a new contract, wish OS would say something about player needing new contract so weknow who is likely to stay and who is not?

We'll deffo get Gosling on a contract. He is better than Osman atm.

I think he's a decent player to have in the squad, nothing more though.

He's overhyped because of his goal against Liverpool, if he didn't score that then theres no chance anyone would be arsed about the lad.

He's a decent player but offers nothing in terms of ball retention or ability to produce something. He's a decent player because he offers a good engine and also gives the full back protection aswell. He's decent on the ball, capable enough in the Premiership but he's not the answer we're looking for. He's filling out abit though but isn't exactly strong and isn't quick either. He's nowhere near Osman in terms of footballing ability but he's something different to him as he's more direct.

He's a good squad player and a handy player to have in the squad, there will always be room for versatile players like Gosling.

Good post mate.

Your right, hes not going to be the answer to the right side, hes a good honest player, who lacks flair. We will hopefully be buying a right sided player, but I would have no problem in seeing young Dan play a few games if need be.

I'm happy to keep him mate yeh, he provides versatility which in todays modern game is always crucial. No longer is the game like it was in the 60's when all you needed was 11 players. It's a squad game and players like Dan Gosling are crucial to a club because they offer themselves in a number of positions. He's a more then capable player, so i'd have no problem in keeping him for a number of years.

To be honest i think he can be great at Everton, he has hunger for the ball, his positioning is great, he has decent skill - we saw from his goal against City he can score some great goals (boss goal), and dont forget he has been playing out of position.
