Exactly.

Very hit and miss?

He's bloody 18/19. Not everyone is a Jack Rodwell or a Wayne Rooney.

but if he was like rooney or rodwell you would not think he is a squad player at best.

QED

You don't have to be "Rooney talented" to play for Everton. I don't expect that.

But you've got to have something about you, even if (the talent) is hit and miss or if it flits in and out of games. I don't see that in Gosling, I must admit.

Age won't make him majorly quicker and at 19 he's not going to get much better (in terms of technical ability).

I haven't called him ****, I'm not criticising him. Just giving my honest opinion of his chances at Everton.

my memory of gosling this season were his first goal at the park end and his delight at that.. missing some good chances at 'boro but being in the right place at the right time. his world class goal v liverpool and the last minute strike v city.

that quite a few moments for a break through year.

looking forward to next season to see what player another year of mental and physical growth will make him.

I'm judging his all round performances more than anything, I don't see anything more than decent to be honest. Hopefully I'm wrong or maybe I'm just not looking properly.

Maybe in a more defensive position he could revel, we'll have to wait and see.

Theres no outstanding attributes evident no, but to be fair, other than pace - on the back of his limited appearences, how can you ascertain he has no outstanding attributes?

Some players don't need a specific outstanding attribute, sure, it can help, but in my view, more time needed before we can draw conclusions. Its not as if the lads had a bad start to his Everton career, has he? - He has provided one of the best moments under David Moyes and if we win the FA Cup Final, he would have been instrumental in that.

To be quite honest he has impressed me more than Osman in the same position, and to do that at 19 - in his first premier league season - is quite a feat. And we dont even know his true position either.

He's also looked more likely to score than other players who have had limited time on the pitch - Anichebe for example.

I feel the fact that he plays in a midfield postion but gets himself into regular goalscoring positions, shows that already he has a promising attribute early in his career. Every team needs the midfield and defence to contribute to scoring, and Gosling fits the bill perfectly. If he improves his heading ability, then he could possibly be like a younger version of Cahill.

To be a first choice player in a top six team I think you need something about you, obviously that's just my opinion. And I’ve seen enough of him to know he won’t develop into our first choice right winger. I’ve seen enough of him to see what his strengths and weaknesses are.

What I would say is I haven’t seen him in other areas, like right back and centre midfield. Maybe he is more suited to those roles, we’ll have to wait and see really. He is supposedly a centre midfielder, naturally.

I haven’t said he’s had a bad start to his Everton career, he’s contributed well as a squad player. I’ve just not seen anything that makes me think there’s anything special there.

Is there no chance of him going back to full back? I don't know what he's like defensively but he looks tidy enough on the ball. We have a good attacking full back on the left, could he not be our one on the right?
