Ehhhh the echoes on the other site were pretty telling
he knew what he was doing, he wasn't scuba diving
Yeah fair enough am not from America so I can’t pretend to no what it’s like. Am from a council estate in Bootle. I have always just treated everyone the same I judge people on their personalities if there sound then they are sound no matter what race or religion they are. Anyway am not going to comment on this thread no more if you don’t no what you on about best to just keep out of it. The sooner we see a world where we are all treated the same can’t come quick enough.Black Lives Matter because what goes without saying is that it's obvious that white lives matter.
So there's no need for All Lives Matter.
Get it?
Think about it as Black Lives (Also) Matter
Because we should celebrate difference and accept them. Not ignore them. Why must people continue to label and divide people? Im a big believer of how can we end racism and discrimination in general when we still continue to divide each other based on colour/religion/sexual orientation etc.
ALL LIVES MATTER
Sooner we all come together and end this petty "I identify as this" the better for humanity.
Thats the point...yes all lives matter, but its an acknowlegement that black people are more actively discriminated against than white people...you ever faced discrimination because of the colour of your skin?
it's a clunky analogy but would you go up to someone at a breast cancer awareness march and tell them all cancers matter? Why must people continue to label and divide people? Until society gets to the point where all minorities, of any kind, are treated with the same respect as those of the majority, stuff like this will never end, to use your wordsBut the point is if everyone was just "American" and not "African American" "latino American" "Italian American" "white American" you help prevent the tribalism that racism grows from.
Right now somewhere in the world you'll have a white person who hates blacks, a black person who hates gays, a latino who hates whites, a muslim who hates transgender people and all this goes on because instead of coming together and accepting everyone for who they are we continue to live in tribalism.
Its why I never get the buzz about pride festivals in the UK - I fully get the reason why they started but in the year 2020 surely we should stop actively trying to "identify and group" ourselves by what gender we like to frolic with?
Its like football tribalism - we're Evertonians therefore naturally we hate liverpool fans even though some LFC fans may be sound - yet when we are all England fans in the world cup we no longer hate one another because we are united temporarily as England fans not Everton/Liverpool.
Until society gets to the point where you no longer identify yourself based on your colour/sexual orientation/religion stuff like this will never end - folk will just protest for a few weeks then its back to normal until the next person is murdered by a cop and the cycle never ends.
I know I have! Antifa seem to be vilified and it isn't clear if it's mudslinging or justified. Murky waters.Just to be clear antifa is , and I’m presuming now , short for ‘anti-fascist ‘ right ? So Is this now a bad thing ? Should I no longer be opposed to fascism , I know historically the UK was quite proud of the whole anti-fascist attitude . Have I missed a memo ?
But as, I assume a white male, you never really have to be aware of you identity as our indentity never really affects us.
America is a melting pot, for the most part a country made up of immigrants. But the point is if everyone was just "American" and not "African American" "latino American" "Italian American" "white American" you help prevent the tribalism that racism grows from.

I dont have an identity mate - im a bloke who grew up in Liverpool and had a very poor upbringing - no white privilege (whats white privilege to the average northern person on universal credit in the UK for example!) Im just a human mate and feel like as soon as the slates wiped clean and people grow up and stop dividing people into categories regardless of if its in an attempt to celebrate heritage/differences etc. then things like this will keep happening because you have groups formed and tribalism grows from groupings look at football as the perfect example of that.

Agree with this. Could never get my head around people touting Obama vs Clinton as first black vs first female president. Why not just the best person for the job? The fact that Obama was referred to as that suggests we still have a long way to go.I dont have an identity mate - im a bloke who grew up in Liverpool and had a very poor upbringing - no white privilege (whats white privilege to the average northern person on universal credit in the UK for example!) I wouldn’t say I was part of the problem. I treat everyone for who they are as a person on there own merit couldn’t care less about race religion sexuality. I will continue treating everyone the same.An important part of the process is being part of that change. Simply recognizing that change needs to occur isn’t enough—the evidence for that seems self evident, but its worth reiterating that society doesn’t make good changes “on its own” but requires significant input from individuals.
Helping to make the change is different for everyone—you can’t have the same impact as your average Yank, for instance—but presuming this doesn’t matter or that you can’t be part of the solution *is actually part of the problem.*
