Happy to talk in another thread about the multiple ways we could address the distressingly high death rate among African American men.
However here it is a) being used as a distraction b) I don’t see how you can effectively address any other crime or social issues unless your have fair arbitration which is clearly not the case in the US. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

It's the "They were gonna die anyways" argument that was used during the pandemic. Devaluing human life ftw.
It's not even that. This country here has a systematic issue with policing in general. It's people in power who abuse that position over those they have the power against. It's not white cops against black men or black cops against white men. It's "I can do what I want because who is going to stop me?"

This literally is the issue. It's police going waaayyyy over the line in the name of "security".
Dont see many white people getting killed for no reason tho.
And since the police are paid for by the public and are meant to reflect its values it should in theory (I stress in theory) be one of the easier problems to address.
Happy to see some police forces de-escalating situations and highlight the abuses of power.

Im all for people being able to protest, but im also all for the police being able to "police" that protest however they see fit.
I mean this isnt a peaceful protest, its a full scale riot.

Some of the videos on social media of the police laying into protesters and the general public and just their all round arlarse behaviour is really showing them up to be real horrible bastards, I know they say it’s just one or two bad apples making them look bad but they seem to have an awful lot of bad apples running through their police forces
Then you aren't paying attention. Since you aren't in the States and not an American I'll assume that to be true. There are more than double the rates of cops killing white men than black men.
So a guy with his hands up SHOULD get blasted in the face? People behind a barricade SHOULD be run over? The hell mate, that's some morbid stance there.
We (Americans) have a constitutional right to protest. Shooting people in the face when they are walking home from the market isn't policing. Shooting reporters when they are standing still isn't policing. Shooting people on their porch and not doing anything isn't policing.
As long as the policing is appropriate to the situation, yet the issue is that some of the actions clearly aren't appropriate responses to the situation at hand.
On the other hand, it's fairly easy to portray appropriate responses (legally or morally) as inappropriate if there is an agenda to do so; the lines are now very blurred.
