Perhaps, though the point with that is that he’s already won - Gorsuch and Kavanaugh already picked, NAFTA and Paris in the bin, the UN without money, the embassy in Jerusalem. He did a speech a couple of nights ago under a banner of “Promises made, promises delivered” and in terms of his horrifying base he has done that. If the Dems plan to get votes on the basis that he has to be stopped then this may not go well for them.
The big difference now is that most moderate people and free thinking people had a shred of respect for the GOP, as their political views (free markets, lower taxes, smaller gov't, etc, etc) at least warranted some healthy debate.
But since the GOP has fallen all over themselves getting into bed with someone like Trump, it's either vote Democrat or you're [implied] for this train wreck in office.
Not saying this is a sound long term strategy, but for many people, there's only one party to actually vote for in the coming election, as flawed as it may be.
