Let's not forget that the Senate rules were in place to avoid someone like Kavanaugh getting appointed. The rules forced both sides to nominate moderates.

This is all because Mitch McConnell is ramming things through by changing the rules for a simple majority. He has set a very dangerous precedent with the highest court in the land. But hey ho, he's the same person that said he'd do everything in his power to ensure Obama was a one term president. Nothing dangerous about that statement. Oh yeah and he's the same guy who blocked Merrick Garland for eleven months from even getting a hearing. No danger in that.

In the words of Kavanaugh, "what comes around, goes around". Nobody on the right will be able to cry foul when the shoe is on the other foot.

America will pay dearly for this spineless Senate that is about to allow this abhorrent scumbag to become a SC Justice. The next thirty years will be painful indeed - most likely starting with the abolition of Wade vs Roe.

Can someone explain to me why all the Republican Senators seem to be reiterating the same belief that they believe Ford was telling the truth in that she was sexually assaulted but just not by Kavanaugh! Does this mean they think she is mad? I mean if they think she isn't lying what do they think of her? To have a PhD and be a well respected member of her community yet she has got Brett mixed up with someone else? Why doesn't one of them say she has lied?

Not sure how sexual assault is any form of identity politics tbh.

Don't take my word for it, this case is just blatantly connected to identity-politics:

The Limits of #MeToo: Sectionalism, Economism, and “Identity Politics” on the Left

In the #MeToo era, identity politics has veered away from its roots. A misuse of identity is not just a conservative problem.

As the Kavanaugh backlash shows, #MeToo hasn't gone far enough

The Kavanaugh Hearings Are Hurting #MeToo

It’s just his buzzword of the day.

yawn...maybe think about those links I'm sharing which back up what I'm trying to tell y'all.

Because it would be politically damaging for them to say anything else.

Their standpoint can be boiled down to “we believe Ford until it’s politically uncomfortable to do so”
