haha, @TheFinnFan, brave man popping back in just after the CA off season break with lots of posters eager and ready to go!
Honest question here.
Nearly all your heroes, the likes of Ann Coulter, Inghram, Hannity etc. seem to be totally against the US supporting Ukraine in their fight against Russia.
Given Finnlands history with Russia, where do you stand on funding the Ukranian resistance?
This could probably go in the Ukranian thread but I'm kinda coming at it from the angle of the right wing American politicians you seem to love

It gives me some satisfaction to report the most partisan Democrats are the ones suffering most under the lawlessness in American cities. The NAACP calling for a state of emergency in Oakland over the lawlessness in the city. Very easy to solve all this, just lock up a thousand or two of the most hardened criminals in each city and this all goes away.

It doesn't go away tho because thats just trying to cure the symptom, not the problem.

Whole lot of assumption going on there but thats ok. Situation in the Ukraine is horrible and I think somekind of ceasefire must be reached. Ukraine has Finlands 100% support but i also understand that funding that war might be futile (the money USA is pouring is absolutely insane). Looking back it's absolutely certain that Biden left Afganistan like he did because resources had to be shifted to this conflict. Geopolitics.

I must have imagined the two decade or so decrease in crime from the 1990's onwards. I'll meet you part way and admit this was partially due to less teenagers roaming the streets, but it was also due to locking up the most hardened and repeat offenders. Only a tiny minority of offenders are responsible for a large percentage of crime. For instance only 327 inviduals are responsible for around 30% of all shoplifting cases reported in NY.

Biden left Afghanistan because trump struck a deal with the Taliban.

I'm opposed to endless war but on this instance (Ukraine, not Afghanistan) I feel that if America doesn't back Ukraine, It won't be long before Putin brings the war to NATOs doorstep. I think populist rabblerousing stirring up anti Ukraine rhetoric on the right is very dangerous.
Hopefully a deal can be reached.

I think Putin will have his hands full with the domestic audience for a while. I'm far more concerned about the signal abandoning Ukraine would send to the Chinese about Taiwan, and the South China Sea.

I'm not optimistic about a deal until conditions change inside Ukraine, inside Russia or on the battlefield.

War already is on the NATOs doorstep.

Right wing politics are so ugly that in order to be popular they have had to adopt populism, the right have openly welcomed religious fundamentalism into politics and want to fight phony culture wars to appeal to voters who don't have the time or inclination to look at policy.

This unfortunate story highlights the real world consequence of both the rights cruelty and greed and also its engagement with religious fundamentalism. The overturning of Roe Vs Wade would have felt unthinkable to me 10 years ago and here we are now seeing a 13 year old rape victim suffer on the back of it. Not just the Roe vs Wade decision though, this child has been failed on so many levels, the lack of sex education in a 13 year old (to let children be children), the lack of available medical care living in a doctor desert, the cost of medical care that should be free to use and was financially unavailable to her family, and many others no doubt I haven't considered.

A 13 year old rape victim was essentially given no choice but to give birth, this is on the right.

great post about where we're at.
I know a few right wing Christian fundamentalists.
I'm fairly sure they know Trump hasn't a religious bone in his body. They see him as a means to an end.
And with the overturning of Roe, they've been proven right and are doubling down.
I'm happy to see DeSantis burning out because his attempt to piggyback on fundamental populism is so transparent, but christ, he's causing some amount of damage on the way.
I'm not sure where we go from here. The right have lost control of their narrative and the left don't seem to have one.

I was back in Ireland for a few weeks and a few friends started banging on about RFK jnr,
Americas special brand of Idiocracy is spreading, grim.

On a brighter note... erm...
Things aren't too bad in Mass :)

Oh Lol. You were missing a few weeks and are now posting all of a sudden again. Incredible, I wonder what it could be?

(Don't respond, you're going back on ignore)

Not sure I believe many of these stories. Women (and girls) in the US are tripping over themselves with charities providing such abortion expenses. If in doubt Google them yourself. They aren't difficult to find.
