I'll defend the usage. It's the intellectual variety, and it is unambiguously the word. We have the genderless 'sellout', but it describes a lesser variety of intellectual treason. The corresponding word for a male is on Carlin's list, and is auto-censored here. If RAFUH wants to argue that there's gender bias in that fact, I'll concede that point.

It is just grift - why have principles or ethics when you can join the rest of the good girls and boys and get paid to speak on Uncle Rupert's channel?

A long line of folk on both sides of the channel have done that, even some who were decent human beings before they did it.

This may be old-fashioned of me, but I think there is a fairly sizable difference between, say, being the governor of Alaska and taking the coin to be on Rupert's channel, and representing Hawaii in Congress and doing the same.

I don't - whatever a persons political beliefs, taking that coin means abandoning belief in order to parrot whatever he tells you to, to suck up to whoever he tells you to and to sacrifice your own political and personal independence upon his altar in the hope of advancement.

There isn't a division between left and right so much now as there is a division between that media/political sphere and the rest of us. The sooner they are defeated the better it will be for everyone else on the planet.

I just can't understand how all these Trump supporting candidates get away with peddling their lies. Obviously there is no evidence of a stolen election and multiple court cases have confirmed this so how does it play out?

I guess here in the UK we still have a good % saying Brexit was a good idea but they tend to fall into two camps - either the smaller minority that say "I never cared about things like the economy or Norther Ireland I just wanted out and away from those horrible foreigners" or the majority that blame Covid, Ukraine, Energy costs for affecting an otherwise positive outcome.
