My condolences to all our American friends on here. Horrific (if not unexpected) news.
It’s a genuinely difficult question, and one that I believe can be debated reasonably from both sides.
I mean, if someone genuinely believes that a 2 day old fetus is a life, with all the implicit rights of a ‘person’, I can understand how they would view an abortion as murder. I may not agree, but it does follow logically, so for those people I can understand the emotion on that side.
I tend to move more along the lines of the emergence of conscious experience, and the ability of a fetus to experience suffering as a reasonable cutoff point, for consideration of personhood. But these aren’t easy questions, and more evidence and good arguments could likely move my position one way or the other.
That said, those who tend to push the pro life side, often seem to me highly disingenuous, and motivated by an anti-women and/or religious angle. You only need look at their opinions on children who are here already, and the lack of support or care they want to show towards them, to see their real motivation is not the protection of life.
And that bellend who came in here just to go “praise god” or whatever, is pretty despicable, using a highly emotive topic like this just to troll and upset people. A big FU to that guy.

And a lot of people who talk about “rights” don’t seem to give a damn about rights to healthcare for your own body, to love/marry who you want or the right to vote.

Just goes to show how careful we all to need with our freedoms. This ruling against womens freedoms will empower the likes of Taliban etc. Sad and dangerous times! Makes you wonder whose soft diplomacy is actually at play... This ruling by the supreme court would sit happy in the Saudi regime. Safely now say free world USA is now defunct.
Some of these states are threatning to punish people who travel out of state to get an abortion arnt they? How will they get around this?
