What are the Republican motives?
Are they frightened of Trump and the midterms?
Why can't they find another suitable conservative judge?
He’s an utter buffoon. Par for the course for politicians from ConnecticutHonestly Blumenthal should not have come back, this is woeful.
I think @mezzrow summed it up well earlier in the threadWhat are the Republican motives?

It's no longer about the nominee. It's about the process.
They would rather vote and lose and have this to use in November elections than withdraw the nomination for Barrett. The Senate will vote on Kavanaugh and he will be approved or rejected. From there, we will move on. You wouldn't believe the effect of the second wave of accusations on the base. This is Bork * Anita Hill to the third power. It represents every single thing they hate most about the Media/Party nexus. Things are indelibly defined now.
We ain;t seen nothing yet.

Kavanaugh goes back as far as the Clinton impeachment attempt, worked for Bush and is basically as connected as its possible to be in the GOP. (edit) They'd probably drop Trump before they dropped him.
