I’d recommend you actually read the article I linked. It does use oced and world bank data. However it relies on the reporting from the member countries. I trust most western countries to report accurately. I don’t trust a China to do the same. Don’t think that’s dismissing anything.Well, that was the report you pulled from the internet. I was quoting actual OECD statistics, and it kind of feels like youre only dismissing them now because you don't like what they say.
But tbf, our eyes can tell us everything we need to know. America clearly has a worse poverty problem than, say, any developed European country
Either way, I fully acknowledge we have issues. I also will sum up my whole argument in the following and then it’s off to play a little golf before it rains.
1. We should do more to help people in tough situations and provide better resources, training, education. We should not just hand people things.
2. I’ll never agree with the default mindset of people saying, “I can’t because it’s hard” or “What can you do for me?” Rather try thinking, “What can I do better or differently?” There’s always something no matter how successful you are.
These two things are not binary. You can do both.
