Instead he suggested that people look to inspiration from their churches. “Only the strong will survive and the weak will perish. Folks, God has given us the tools to support ourselves in times like this,” he said.

There’s always different levels of incompetence. Just feels like from the outside he’s not really doing anything well and hasn’t since the pandemic first hit. No idea on anyone else being proposed on either side. Not really but then is there ever a governor who isn't self serving and a bit clueless.
Not all of it has been his fault though in fairness. As much as I am not a fan of his there have been many other factors.
Anyway my main point was it will be a waste of time for Republicans. If they are looking for someone else their man just isn't it nor.will he get elected.
The person spearheading the movement and who is looking to take his place is worse. Kevin Faulkner. He is terrible despite the campaign saying he could take it. It won't happen.
If the recall had anything to do with your second point then I would say sure go right ahead. There’s always different levels of incompetence. Just feels like from the outside he’s not really doing anything well and hasn’t since the pandemic first hit. No idea on anyone else being proposed on either side.
Cant remember who posted it but someone was basically saying Federal stimulus checks were required because states couldn’t figure out how to distribute unemployment effectively. The story linked was all about wait times and lack of infrastructure in California. You’ve had a full year at this point. Get your crap together. At the state level the buck stops with the governor. That’s the job.
I wonder what it is going to take for some Americans to learn that deregulation and keeping taxes low, so low that underfunds infrastructure and social services, is not the kind of government policies that are good for the well-being of our society. The Governor of Texas is a POS. Very, very difficult circumstances here but perhaps this event will be a learning lesson about the downsides of deregulation and going it solo.
Oh, who am I kidding?
Just to be clear, I’m not advocating a recall. I don’t know enough about the situation. And I get it’s hard. But he knew that when he signed up. I don’t like “It’s hard” as an excuse almost ever. Maybe it’s better to ask this way. Out of all those challenges, what had he excelled at improving and/or managing? What can he hang his hat on? Appreciate you educating me.If the recall had anything to do with your second point then I would say sure go right ahead.
But it hasn't. It was started by Republicans and supported by idiots who don't want to wear masks and don't like being told where they can and can't go.
After the fact they tacked on actual issues with him or his administration
Newsom aside Californian is a quagmire when it comes to politics. Lobbyists from the northern part and from San Diegan based militsry contractors have the party split.
Hence no big decisions.
The people here continue to vote blue and in the last two elections had leaned towards the most progressive candidates but once those candidates win there is a road block.
It's no surprise Newsom was stupidly caught with his pants down. Being seen at a lobbyists birthday part mere days after the lockdown.
I would say given the many different interests in this massive state its one of the worst to control. Always in debt and always at the mercy of powerful people.
No excuses for Newsom but I understand the job.
Replace him early and it will still be the same. If a Republican wins the state goes backwards and further into the greedy lobbying scums hands.
Given the sector I work in and the many dubious and odious people I have met I'd rather Newsom than any Californian based republican. Most of them are legit crooks. Google any of them to see their shady pasts.
This piece by politico sums up the hardness of the job

7 reasons Gavin Newsom has the worst job in politics
"I think Gov. Newsom clearly wins the prize for having to cope with the most crises at the same time," says former California Gov. Gray Davis.www.politico.com
Normally I would agree about the no excuses part and the hard part. But both parties I think don't care who runs. No one wants the job. Just look who has held it in the last four terms.Just to be clear, I’m not advocating a recall. I don’t know enough about the situation. And I get it’s hard. But he knew that when he signed up. Paints a pretty grim picture there. Hey, look at the bright side. There are in fact states in a worse financial position than California. Not many, but they’re out there.Normally I would agree about the no excuses part and the hard part. But both parties I think don't care who runs. No one wants the job. Just look who has held it in the last four terms.
A guy who held the position once before in the 80's or 90's who despite being unpopular won again
An actor who ran against a porn star and a corrupt lawyer
A guy who was so bad then got the job and was later recalled
Most of these guys either won a second term by default or didn't run again.
If Newsom is recalled they are talking about one of his cabinet running or the current mayor of San Diego seen as he beat Faulkner. Yep thats their reason for picking him.
The Republicans honestly feel they can turn the left here. Whereas the left here will vote for whoever is a serious candidate for the left. They won't vote for the right.
It's catch 22 being Govenor here. Even before you get the job they will accuse you off something and tee up the old favorites like debt, infrastructure, schools and jobs.
Same record no matter who's in charge.
