Guy outside local supermarket asking people to sign the petition to recall the CA governor Newsom. Of course the Muppet had no mask on. Worst part was the idiots signing it.

Crazy thing is the person they want to replace him is a Republican who managed to drive one of the biggest money makers out of San Diego. The Chargers.

He was the Mayor who limited the vote for the downtown stadium well to the people downtown. Who are all rich blow ins who could care less for the Padres and Chargers.

The same ass hats who do nothing but complain about baseball traffic. Despite Petco Park stadium being there longer than their crappy overpriced Condos.

They forget if they are successful it goes back to a vote and given the state is overwhelming blue Newsom will surely be replaced by a Democrat. Such a wasteful activity

A large portion of the state will not have temperatures consistently above freezing until the weekend. And while the the majority of the state is struggling, other pockets, most notably El Paso, are not having much issue with electricity and water. Why? They are not part of the Electric Reliability Council of TX - which maintains a grid solely for ise by the majority of the state. Unlike the East or West grid in the US, TX is incapable of receiving excess capacity from elsewhere.

Also, unlike elsewhere we have nimrods who pray at the altar of deregulation and live in abject fear of Federal Regs. Their sycophants are already all over news and social media blaming renewable energy sources (wind, solar) as well as the "Green New Deal" when, as the article states, the main problem has been fossil fuel and nuclear plants failing. Of course the GND hasn't come close to passing and the GOP has been in charge of every level of state government here for more than 3 decades. So, yeah, let's blame the young woman from Brooklyn for the failures of this state. Typical.

(As for us, we are OK. No water for now but electricity is good. We are on the same circuit as a hospital so not likely to be shut down. Hosting a few folks not as fortunate.)

@BlueTX it is great to hear that you and your family are okay (minus the water) and have been spared the crisis that many Texas residents are encountering at the moment because of the collapse of the state's power system. Hopefully this chaotic situation makes some Texans rethink their support of Republicans in state government.

Spare us: After Trump, seven Republican lectures Democrats never need to hear again

1- Constitutional originalism
2- Rule of law
3- Abuse of power
4- Blue Lives Matter
5- True patriotism
6- Value of human life
7- The party of Everyman

Mcconnell is more than shameless, he has been an endangerment to our democracy for years.

It is an inherent problem with the republican party and in global politics in general, to be fair. Most politicians are so old that they don't plan beyond the end of the day, because there's a chance they won't wake up again.

How can they be in those positions, when they won't be around to see the consequences of their actions?

There needs to be a move towards younger politicians who I believe are more aware that they will have to live with their actions.

I know this sound ageist, but considering when trump was in; the top 3 in line to run the self-proclaimed "most powerful democracy in the world" were all over 70. That doesn't lend itself to admitting past mistakes (climate change, gender equality, racism etc) and making difficult changes to rectify the problems.

Glad you are doing OK and are able to help some others.

We‘ve lost power multiple times in recent years here in California as Ted Cruz had fun pointing out but he seems to have taken the wrong lesson from it.

Hopefully Biden admin can do many “infrastructure weeks” as the whole US system needs upgrades.

I totally agree for decades we have allowed grandparents to run our countries but
we need younger politicians that are willing to resolve the issues that will be affecting future generations. It doesn't sound promising when the people making such decisions have antiquated mentalities. The median age of a U.S. Senator is nearly 62 years old, just near the age when most Americans are looking into retirement. While I appreciate the maturity and knowledge a person of that age can bring to an Office, having such a significant lack of young leadership is very destructive to American democracy given our society values keep evolving and some of these politicians still are living in the past, along with some of the policies they want to implement.

Cruz and dozens of other "conservative thought leaders" (read: Twitter [Poor language removed]-stirrers) from this state are taking it on the chin for their asshattery. Deservedly so.

People are getting royally pissed off. And when they find out the truth it'll be interesting to see what happens. I'm betting not much. Cuz, you know, freedom and Money Jesus.

Vast majority of my family is in AR, OK, KS and TX. They have all had rolling black outs. My cousin in AR has a ranch and was trying to keep his sheep alive in -14F temps.
So far no one has been without electric more than a few hours - thankfully.
