The lack of day/date/place and other specifics. The fact that it was triggered by the door conflict and work in couples therapy. The GOP will equate this to the McMartin preschool tragedy of the 80's.

Unless I’m wrong , It wasn’t triggered in couples therapy in her statement she’d already told her husband she’d been the victim of sexual assault and subsequently disclosed details in couples therapy. In my opinion That’s not what you’d expect in the case of recovered memories .

I have to say I think she it’s a very difficult scenario to watch and possibly Judge given the way it’s broken up but she comes across as reliable and I’d also say so far the optics aren’t good for Kavanaugh or the republicans .

Flipping over to the Fox News livestream to hear their take....

regardless, this shouldn't happen this way. Not sure why Feinstein didn't bring this up earlier to be investigated, but Dr Ford is paying the price.

yea, somehow they'll spin this to be the Democrats fault.
The right thing to do now, in this recess, is to withdraw the Kavanaugh nomination and end this charade.

It depends what your standards of proof you are using - is it proof beyond reasonable doubt as in a criminal trial? Is it probable cause which is a lower standard such as you’d used for getting a warrent etc? Is it a lower “Caesars wife should be above suspicion”?

Even if you don’t think there is enough to withdraw the nomination (I would if it was a Dem candidate) I think there is more than enough to get Mark Judge to testify similarly to Dr Ford since he is alleged to have been in the room.

I agree with all of that.

Unfortunately, we're relying on common human decency from Donald Trump. He does not have that trait.

Maybe the fact that Dr Ford is having to testify in public is the Dems' fault - once again, I don't know why Feinstein didn't bring this up earlier. Maybe she was looking for a show-stopper of a moment, maybe she had an investigator checking it out quietly, I don't know.

Certainly, the Republicans aren't helping by refusing to have this investigated now.

And both sides are looking at this and gauging their chances in the mid-term elections - control of the House and (less likely) Senate might change. If the Senate changed hands, then the R's would certainly regret not getting Kavanaugh confirmed now.

Vault this. If we hear from Ford, here's the scenario.

"This whole thing really is predictable If I had to guess, here’s what I think will happen on Thursday.

Kavanaugh will show up and Ford won’t. The Democrats, feeling charitable, will offer to let Kavanaugh testify and get his side of the story told so he can clear his name. Both sides will grill him and the Democrats will ask him a series of weirdly specific questions.

Once he is done, Christine Blasey Ford, her lawyers, and a bunch of progressive activists will storm the room and demand that Ford now be heard. Democrats will demand she be heard. The Republicans will cave.

She’ll then give testimony designed to cast doubt on Kavanaugh based on the weirdly specific questions the Democrats asked."
